Typically, when we hear the term ‘strength‘ we associate it with physical abilities and attributes.   However, over the years after going through different experiences some good and others rather challenging,  I’ve learnt that strength is so much more than just a physical thing.

What do I mean?

Well, during my difficult moments it was my strength of mind, spirit and family that helped me overcome those not so sunny days.   Let me explain.

  • Strength of mind – this is when we know who we are and no longer allow self-doubt or negative people to have control over our thoughts and emotions.

  • Strength of spirit – this is where our faith and our beliefs come in.   It is in times of adversity that this strength once nurtured and developed can help bring us through those tough periods in our lives.   Without it, we are like sheep among wolves.

  • Strength of family – this strength is often overlooked.  The love, support and encouragement of family is so important in our lives.  They usually rally around us in our time of need.  They usually stand by us through the good and the bad times.  Those of us who don’t have families like that may still be blessed with a few individuals in our lives that we have formed very close and strong bonds with who over the years have become your family.  This is just as significant.

These three aspects of my life have made such a difference in the outcome of various events in my life that I will forever be grateful.  So, am I strong? YES, in every area of my life that matters most to ME.

Am I going to have challenging moments in my life from time to time? Yes!  Why? Being strong in those areas does not mean we won’t have issues or challenges.  Those strengths just mean we would be better able to cope with the obstacles than individuals who have not developed those areas yet.

We use food and exercise to strengthen our bodies but how do we go about strengthening our mind and spirit?

Some things we can do to strengthen those areas include:

  1. Through prayer.
  2. Reading and trying to understand the scripture.  I understand that this can be a bit challenging as we would not always understand everything we read but I believe if we trust and ask God to open our minds and hearts to what he needs us to see and be he would point the way.
  3. Paying attention to what we put in and what we allow those around us to contribute.
  4. Be mindful of the people we surround ourselves with as negative energy breathes negativity.
  5. Take control of our thoughts.
  6. Facing our truths whatever they maybe and choosing to understand, learn and move forward.
  7. Practice forgiveness.  Not just for those persons who have wronged us but ourselves. We are often very tough on ourselves.
  8. Practice self-love.  I believe that even with our imperfections we are still worth love and appreciation.

I’m merely sharing my experience. I can only tell you what has helped me.  Strength is God’s gift to each of us.  Are you prepared and willing to tap into yours?

Thanks for stopping by.  Make today and this weekend a great one.

Health and Wellness Fridays! – Special Giveaway :)

Welcome back to Health and Wellness Fridays!  As promised I have my very first giveaway for you guys brought to you compliments of the Happy Guide blog which is run by Michael Kinnaird and his brother James Riddett.

What is the Happy Guide blog all about?

The Happy Guide blog is all about lifestyle changes that foster better health and greater happiness in our lives.   I had the pleasure and opportunity of reading their eBook called Happy Guide – 6 Simple Lifestyle Changes for Health and Happiness.   It shares not only WHAT to change but HOW we can go about making those changes.   I found it insightful, user-friendly, inspiring and refreshing.

James reached out to me and offered to team up to provide 5 of my wonderful readers with an opportunity to win a free copy of the Happy Guide eBook.

Excited?  🙂 If you’re interested in learning more all you have to do is be one of the first five people to comment below telling us what being healthy means to you.  It does not have to be long just a line or two.  It’s that simple.

I’ll list the winners in a follow-up email after which the guys over at Happy Guide would email the winners their eBooks.

Best of luck to each of you.  Don’t miss out on this opportunity.  Remember, being healthy and happy starts with YOU working from the inside out.

As always thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend.  🙂

The Blame Game

The blame game only highlights the obvious that is, that something went wrong or not as planned.

The time and effort we put into it can drain our energy and leaving those involved feeling discouraged and angry. How we address issues in times like these can help make or break relationships.

Things go wrong from time to time and it is important that we look at where things went wrong and why so we can learn from them.  However, more effort should be placed on finding a resolution and a way forward.

So before we go off highlighting everything someone else did incorrectly – stop, think and ask yourself, if it were me how would I like to be spoken to or about.

We all make mistakes. Let’s choose to learn from them.

Thanks for stopping by.

What’s Up Wednesday #17

Happy Wednesday greetings to you all and welcome back to What’s Up Wednesdays! 🙂

Today I’m going to be bringing you up to speed on what’s been going on and what’s not.  Let’s begin.

What I’m eating this week:

Today for lunch I had Chinese Food – noodles, chunky vegetables, crispy skin pork and a few slices of avocado.  🙂  I remembered to take a picture this time.

What I’m reminiscing about:

Some of the food I had while in Miami.

What I’m loving:

The progress and growth I’ve seen over the last few months with my blog. I am very pleased with how far I’ve come.  I am very grateful for all the support and encouragement I get from my readers.  You all are amazing.  Thank you for being a part of this journey with me.

What I’ve been up to:

I’ve been busy trying to work out the bugs on my website.  I recently migrated to a new hosting provider and upgraded my SSL Certificate.  The last few months have just been too frustrating for both me and my readers enough was enough.

What I’m dreading:

I’m not really dreading anything thankfully.  Oh no, I forgot I still have some painting to do. * Sigh*  We’ve been getting heavy  rains for the past few days so I will definitely be painting indoors.  The good news is I got a really neat customized colour called Celery Stalk.  It is a very interesting green.  I will show you guys a picture when I get the area done. 🙂

What I’m working on:

I’m working on finalizing the details for my very first sponsored GIVEAWAY this Friday.  So be sure to look out for that.  I’m very excited about it. 🙂

What I’m excited about:

The giveaway!!!  First come, First Serve!  So don’t miss it!

What I’m watching:

Now that my health is back to full strength I have been in a TV watching mood.  I recently stumbled on a series called Shadow Hunters.  I’m enjoying it so far.  Just finished the First Season hoping to start the Second Season soon.

Who/ What I’m listening to:

Meghan Trainor – Lips Are Movin

What I’m wearing/ Let’s Go Shopping:

Today, I’ve decided to share my outfit from today.  Very simple and very me!

What I’m doing this weekend:

This weekend I’m hoping to do some fun stuff with the kids.  I just hope the weather is bright and sunny.  At some point I’ll do some ironing for the week ahead.  Yes, I typically iron all the kids uniforms for the week in advance.  I’m not someone who likes to get up every morning and iron.

What I’m looking forward to the next month:

Celebrating the birthday of my youngest son.  Trust me when I tell you this 3-year-old is very excited about his upcoming birthday.  🙂

What else is new?

I was nominated for my very first Miranda Sings Award this month.  It is all about self-love.  You can check it out if you like at the link above.

That’s all for now guys.  Thanks so much for stopping by.  Enjoy the rest of your Wednesday. 🙂

The Miranda Sings Award (originally posted 25.09.2017)

Thank you Roda for nominating me for this award.  It is the first time I have received it and I’m grateful that you thought of sharing it with me.  Roda blogs over at Growing Self and trust me when I tell you this she is amazing and very inspirational. You won’t regret visiting so be sure to check her out.

The Miranda Sings Award is all about Self Love.  🙂  So let’s get into it.

  • Announce your win with a post, and link the blogger who nominated you.
  • Include the featured image on your blog post.
  • Nominate 10 bloggers (or as many as you can think of) and link your awardees in the post.
  • List 7 things you love about yourself. (This can be about your appearance, your personality, your achievements, etc.)
  • Don’t use negative connotation (i.e. Don’t say things like – “I’m prettier than an average person.” or “People have told me I’m smart.” You are pretty. You are smart.)

7 things I love about myself:

  • I love my strength of mind, body and spirit.  It took me some time to learn and truly appreciate just how strong I was but the journey was worth it. I pray that I never forget! 🙂

  • I love that I can learn most things very quickly.  I just have to put my mind to it.

  • I love seeing my creative side shine  Whether it is writing poetry, writing an inspirational piece, designing or painting each experience brings with it a feeling of accomplishment and joy.

  • I love my ability to help inspire and encourage others.  It feels good helping others see the good and positive things in themselves that have always been there but just hidden.

  • I love and accept the way God has chosen to craft me both inside and out.

  • I love that I take my role as a mother seriously.  There are so many children out there not receiving the love, care and attention that they need and it breaks my heart.  We have been entrusted not only as mothers but as parents with a responsibility to care, nurture and protect the lives we’ve been blessed with and we need to do our part.

  • I love that I now understand that happiness is where I make it.  If we live our lives relying on others to make and keep us happy then we set ourselves up for disappointment.

My nominees are:

  1. Simple Ula
  2. Hussein Allam
  3. Sar Wanders
  4. Cheila
  5. Shinavyblogspot
  6. Theworldoffritters
  7. DreamingofGuatemala
  8. Lifemorethanexistance
  9. Dippy-Dotty Girl
  10. Elsie LMC
  11. LifeofAngela
  12. Adrianna J
  13. Oldhouseintheshires
  14. Heartsinink
  15. Reactionarytales

I understand that not everyone chooses to be a part of the award nomination process. If you choose to take part, that would be fantastic! If not, no pressure! Just keep writing…♥

Thanks for stopping by.

Website Update

Hello everyone,

Please note that my website was recently migrated to a new host provider and as such some of the work that I created during that time did not transfer and unfortunately any comments made were lost.  As such I would be re-posting articles I did after September 14th since those are the ones missing.

So please bear with me as I re-post those articles.  I am hoping and trusting that this migration to a new host provider alleviates the problems I was having as well as some of you were having with my website.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
