One Day At A Time

Pleasant Good Morning to You All,

May this morning as the warm rays of the sun gently cover your body find each of  you full of life with a sense of purpose and peace as you go through your day.  May your disruptions be few and may you always have clarity of mind and spirit to overcome any obstacle or challenge that may come your way.  In Jesus name, Amen!

One day at a time is how we learn and grow.  This is true for all of us.  From birth straight through to our adult lives and this is not limited only to our ability to move but our intellect and spirituality as well.

The thing is, no one person has ALL of the answers and those persons who have words of wisdom to share with others would have developed them from over years of learning from their own life lessons.

Each day will bring with it opportunities for growth, understanding and challenges which ultimately add up to lessons which help shape and develop us as individuals. Don’t beat yourself up if you don’t get it right the first time or the even the second time.

When the situation seems bigger than YOURSELF and you can’t seem to find a way to overcome it. Pray for clarity of mind,  ask for God’s guidance and he WILL provide the answer.  You just have to listen not only with your ears but your eyes, heart and spirit.  Worrying and stressing about it will only cloud and block your ability to see and receive the very answers you are searching for.

So dear friends remember, take it one day at a time. Embrace each day as a potential lesson to be learnt. Be sure to apply a positive attitude as this would help to make your  journey much easier as you learn and grow along the way.

Make today a wonderful one.  Thank you for stopping by.

I Will…

I will laugh whenever I can because it makes me feel good.

I will sing because that is when I truly hear myself.  🙂

I will dance because the sound of the music is pleasing to my ear.

I will listen because when I do I open the door for knowledge and wisdom to enter.

I will show compassion for others because it is the right thing to do.  If the situation were reversed I would want someone to care about me too.

I will pray because prayer soothes my soul and helps free my mind from worry.

I will help whenever and wherever I can because it feels good to give back.

I will praise the Lord at all times because he has shown me his mercy and favour even when there maybe times I don’t realise it or deserve it.

I will not make promises I know I can’t keep.

I will not make unrealistic expectations for myself or others.

I will be grateful for everything I have no matter how little it is.

I will not be complacent because that is not a good look for me. 🙂

I will actively pursue my happiness in everything I do starting with my thoughts.

I will love and cherish the people in my life who genuinely love and care about me.

I will love myself because even with the imperfect parts I am still a wonderful and beautiful person.

I will always appreciate and be grateful for my readers because they inspire me to do what I do.

It is important from time to time to list for ourselves what we want and don’t want for and from ourselves.

Have a wonderful night.  Thank you for reading.

No Matter What!

No matter what they SAY

No matter what they DO

Always remember you’re in control of YOU

No matter how COLD it gets

No matter how much the PAIN seems to get

Always remember the SUN will always set

This too shall pass dear friend so no need to fret

And just when you think all is LOST

You’ll feel a rupture from deep within

A strange but calming feeling

Powering you, giving you that FINAL win.

In life challenges will come at us all of the time. The challenges and obstacles are only temporary so we need to hold firm and ride them out.

It’s like the weather, we have sunny days and we have rainy days too and based on where you live you might even have a blizzard or two but at the end of it all – a rainbow emerges giving us its beautiful light and we must all agree that is a wonderful sight.

Music Reflections Mondays #23 – Reminiscing

Welcome back to Music Reflection Mondays! Hope your weekend was delightful and that your Monday was a pleasant one.

Over the weekend I stumbled across some music that I used to listen to not so long ago and it just took me back.  It’s been stuck in my head probably because I’m just playing it repeatedly in my car. 🙂

So what have I been listening to?  Here’s sneak peek at my playlist this week. 🙂

Do we share any favourites? I’ve been extra busy lately so I’ve been spending more time than I would like driving so to relax and not worry about all that I have to do I turn to the music and it truly helps.

Sure music won’t make our issues disappear but music can create some space in our minds that our stress and constant worrying can often dominate finally granting  us some ‘ME’ time.

Music is like the reset or refresh button for life.  When the going gets tough, get the music flowing. 🙂

Hope you enjoyed. Have a wonderful night and thanks for stopping by.

Christmas Vibes

It’s that special time of year, when those you love draw near

There’s just something magical about the atmosphere

That no other season can compare

Maybe it’s the music, maybe it’s the food

Maybe it’s the beautiful decorations that get us in the mood

The presence of family and friends

Laughter and cheer is more than enough to remind us who really care

Christmas time though is not all Ho! Ho! Ho! Ho! for everyone

For some Christmas is just no fun 🙁

As it is a reminder of those who have gone

The memories can hit us like a powerful mist

Often so strong we spend countless days trying to dismiss

Christmas brings us together for a few days in December

But we should always remember

We never stop loving our loved ones because they aren’t here

For they will always be special and dear

So never despair

Cherish the people you still have here

And let’s commemorate those who can’t be there.

Thank you for stopping by.  🙂

Health and Wellness Fridays – Top Cancer Fighting Foods

Welcome back dear friends to Health and Wellness Fridays! May your day be filled with joy and peace and as we move into the weekend may this follow you also.

Today, we going to look at everyday foods that have been identified as cancer fighting foods but before we get into that let’s start with the basics.

What is cancer?

Cancer is not a single disease.  In fact, cancer is the term used to classify a group of more than 100 diseases all of which are characterized by their uncontrolled abnormal growth of cells.   Cancer can start anywhere in the body.  When it starts cells grow out of control as malignant cells multiply forming tumors in organs and tissues.  This makes it hard for the body to work the way it should.

What causes cancer?

Cancer is a genetic disease. When the genetic material of a cell aka ‘the DNA’ is damaged, mutations can arise and this can potentially disrupt normal cell growth and division.

An accumulation of these mutations can turn normal cells into precancerous cells, which sometimes multiply and evolve into cancer cells. Cancer is a result of the accumulation of these cells.  Cancer development is a process and it takes time to develop and is not something that just happens overnight.

How is cancer treated?

Some treatments of cancer include but are not limited to the following:

  • Surgery – the procedure in which a surgeon removes cancer from your body.
  • Radiation – uses high doses of radiation to kill cancer cells and shrink tumors.
  • Chemotherapy – uses drugs to kill cancer cells.
  • Immunotherapy– a type of treatment that helps your immune system fight cancer.
  • Hormone Therapy– a treatment that slows or stops the growth of breast and prostate cancers that use hormones to grow.
  • Stem Cell Transplant– are procedures that restore blood-forming stem cells in cancer patients who have had theirs destroyed by very high doses of chemotherapy or radiation therapy.
  • Precision Medicine– helps doctors select treatments that are most likely to help patients based on a genetic understanding of their disease.
  • Targeted Therapy – is a treatment that targets the changes in cancer cells that help them grow, divide, and spread.

Now that we’ve gotten all of that out of the way let’s look at some foods that have been reported to help in the fight against cancer.  I’ve heard and read many stories of persons who have made simple changes to their diet and have had remarkable results.

Eat, Nutrition, Food, Healthy, Vegetables, Detox

Let’s take a look at some of the popular foods:

  • Broccoli
  • Berries – (e.g. strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, goji berries)
  • Tomatoes
  • Garlic
  • Beans and peas
  • Leafy Green Vegetables (e.g. spinach, lettuce, patchoi
  • Cruciferous Vegetables – (e.g. cabbage, kale, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts)
  • Brightly Orange – Coloured Foods – (e.g. carrots, sweet potato, squash and citrus fruits)
  • Unrefined oils- (e.g. coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, flax oil and cod)
  • Nuts- (e.g. walnuts, brazil nuts and almonds)
  • Seeds – (e.g. chia seeds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds and flaxseeds)
  • Probiotic foods – (e.g. kimchi, sauerkraut, coconut kefir, kombucha or natto)
  • Wild-Caught Fish
  • Mushrooms
  • Whole grains
  • Ginger
  • Beetroot
  • Grapes
  • Green Tea
  • Pomegranate
  • Dark chocolate
  • Turmeric
  • Increase your intake of alkaline water

Our first course of action to reduce our risks for cancer is to improve our diet.  “One day at a time” is my motto but we have to start sooner rather than later.  So we need to pay closer attention to what we’re putting into our bodies if we want to get the maximum use of them.

Have a wonderful weekend.  Thanks for stopping by. 🙂
