Dear Dad Letter

Dear Dad,

On this very special day we want to publicly say, we love you!

Our relationship is not perfect. In fact, we’ve only recently started working on it.

We’ve let down our shields in effort to heal the once broken places.  Yes, it was hard at times but it got easier.  We talk more and we follow-up with each other.  It means a lot to know you are there, praying for us and wanting to be near.

You have your own way of doing things and we’ve come to respect and accept that.   However, even with our differences, we are still one.  We look at you and listen and we see some aspects of ourselves in you or is it you in us.

You are creative, analytical, skilful, innovative, tough, resilient, generous, a problem solver, always willing and helpful to others.  Even though you were not always there it seems some good parts of you from birth your children share.  🙂

In this journey of life we have come to learn that forgiveness is the answer to many of life’s problems.  It starts the process of healing and is the catalyst for new beginnings.   God put us together for a reason.  We all have lessons to learn and this is not about young or old but building  relationships more precious than gold.

While you are still alive, we want to take this opportunity to say,  we forgive you.  We’re not here to judge you but simply say that through it all, we still love you.

Happy Father’s Day!
