The big day has finally arrived and yes, after all of the preparations the hustling and bustling it feels good to finally slow down and just take it all in with dear friends and family.

I want to wish each and every one of you a Merry Christmas.  🙂   I trust that you are all having a wonderful day and wanted to say, thank you!  Thank you for your continued support and encouragement.  I am truly grateful.

  • I want to thank God for each of you. May he continue to bless, guide and protect you.
  • I want to thank God for always making a way even when we can’t seem to find one.
  • I want to thank God for always being there guiding and protecting us even when we don’t see him.  I know there have been times when things could have gone terribly wrong and I felt and saw his protection working in my life. Thank you Lord!
  • I want to thank God for the simple things, the little and the big things.
  • Thank you Lord for the lives of the people you are working behind the scenes to deliver their breakthroughs sooner than later as you did for me.  Give them a sign and reassure them that they are not alone and that things will work out.

Thank you Lord for this Christmas and all that you have blessed us with.  May we always have your favour and blessing in and over our lives.

What’s Up Wednesdays #15

What’s Up?  How have you all been?  What have you been up to? Work, work, work?  Whatever you’ve done I hope you made time for YOU.  I realised over this vacation just how much of myself I have neglected so don’t do that!  Make time for you no matter how short – DO IT!  You’ll regret it if you don’t.

Back to why we’re here it’s – What’s Up Wednesdays!

What I’m eating this week:

Today, for breakfast I had two doubles with slight pepper. Yum! For lunch macaroni pie, stew goat, callaloo and lentil peas. It was delicious. 🙂 Unfortunately,  I didn’t have any salad.  I thought about you guys only after I ate each meal.  Forgive me.  When I’m hungry the last thing I’m thinking about is pictures. I’m weak in this area but I’ll work on it. 🙂  I did manage to get a picture of my Presto Chicken Pasta dinner.

What I’m reminiscing about:

How special this vacation period was for both me and my family.  I’m looking forward to creating even more memories.  The pictures above are from my stay in Miami at the Courtyard Marriott Downtown Brickell Area.

What I’m loving:

Looking forward to the future.  Although there are many uncertainties, there are also many opportunities and possibilities.  I prefer to be optimistic and positive about what’s to come. Whatever lies ahead, we’ll make the most of it!  🙂

What I’ve been up to:

I’ve completed the majority of the painting but we still have the exterior to focus on going forward.  The tiling work is finally completed hallelujah!   I still have some organizing to do but I’ve come down with the flu since I’ve been back so it has slowed me down a bit.  My focus at the moment is just on getting well.

What I’m dreading:

My kids potentially getting the flu too! I try to limit my interactions as much as I can when I’m ill but sometimes it’s just not enough especially when my kids insist on hugging and kissing me.  Unfortunately, my toddler started displaying symptoms of the flu so he maybe staying at home with me tomorrow.  We both will need the rest.

What I’m working on:

I’ve had a lot of challenges with my hosting company over the last few months such as frequent down time and other stuff so I’m working on acquiring a more dependable hosting company for my site. Will keep you guys posted on this.  Thank you for visiting my blog and bringing to my attention any difficulties you experience while visiting. I truly appreciate it. 🙂

What I’m excited about:

In one word –life! So many amazing and wonderful things have happened to me in the last few months that I just have to say, THANK YOU LORD, for NEVER GIVING UP ON ME and DELIVERING ME AS PROMISED and I HAVE NO DOUBT THAT THINGS WILL CONTINUE TO GET BETTER and BETTER.

What I’m watching:

Cartoons lately and my DVD player is probably due for some light dusting at this point because of its lack of use on my part.  I do plan on reading an interesting e-book over the next few days. 🙂

Who/ What I’m listening to:

There’s Nothing Holdin’ You Back – by Shawn Mendes  and  Attention – by Charlie Puth

What I’m wearing/ Let’s Go Shopping:

I found these neat looking handbags at CharmingCharlie.com and they are currently offering 40% off handbags.  They have a variety of items such as clothing, shoes, jewelry, gift items and more.   They have over 350 stores in the USA, as well as locations in Canada, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Philippines, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

What I’m doing this weekend:

Ideally, resting.  However, once I’m physically up to it back to cleaning and reorganizing my space.  I hate seeing my space in untidy.

What I’m looking forward to the next month:

My youngest son’s birthday.  He’ll be 4 years old.  🙂

What else is new?

I have an opportunity to have my very first giveaway on Livingvsexisting.com . I’m very excited about it so look out for that within the next week or so.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great week.

Happy Emancipation Day!

In Trinidad and Tobago, we celebrate Emancipation Day on August 1st and it is a public holiday.

Did you know?

On August 1, 1985, Trinidad and Tobago became the first country in the world to declare a national holiday to commemorate the abolition of slavery.

When I think of Emancipation I think of how blessed we are as a people.  Think about it, the experiences and opportunities we now enjoy that we sometimes take for granted because we don’t know any other way than how things are presently.  Some things I often overlooked included:

  • Freedom to acquire an education
  • Freedom to choose my own career path
  • Freedom to live where I want (financial limitations aside)
  • Overall, freedom to live my life, my way
  • The only human being I needed to be accountable to was my parents

Too often, we have to lose what we have before we can appreciate what we had.

Let Emancipation Day be a day to celebrate

How far we’ve come

Never forgetting the chosen few

Who stood up and did what many were afraid to do

Creating greater possibilities for ME  and for YOU

……………………………………………………………………………………..

Let Emancipation Day remind us to always be grateful for what we have

May we always be appreciative of things both big and small

And not let our perspectives on life, keep us locked up in mental strife

Bob Marley, said it best in Redemption Song

……………………………………………………………………………………….

Let Emancipation Day remind us of the need to participate

Life is too short and neither of us know the date

So let’s not allow fear to keep us stuck or hold us back

May we never forget but instead respect

and always appreciate what has been done for us

A special thank you to those special people who cleared the way

So we could live better lives today.

Thanks for stopping by.  Hope you had a great day.

On another special note: My dad also celebrates his birthday on this very special day.  Happy Birthday again daddy! 🙂 May you live to see and enjoy many, many more.
