Run Your Own Race

Life is often viewed as a race and I think that’s because we’re always looking at how well those around us seem to be doing when compared to us.  When we do this, we often neglect the beauty and the blessings going on within our own lives that we should be grateful for.

The truth is, how well we do in our own race called life is dependent on how well we handle the challenges and the lessons along the way.

Now ask yourself this:

  • How high am I prepared to jump over my hurdles to get to my destination?
  • How badly do I want to see my dreams come through?
  • What or who am I prepared to let go of to move forward into my destiny?

Based on your answers to those questions.  Here are some things we would need to do to start running our own races more effectively.

1. Seek to align our lives with the word of God. When we seek God’s word and try to apply it to our lives amazing things happen. We experience improvement in our relationships, business, workplace, our kids, our health, our thinking and behaviour as well as our finances.  God’s word provides guidance, understanding, breakthroughs, wisdom and peace.

2. Take control of our thoughts. We can do this if we stop worrying about the race ahead of us and just tackle it one hurdle at a time.

3. Focus on the race in front of you. Stop focusing on the race the other runners are running.

4. Magnify our strengths and work on our weaknesses. Stop comparing our race to the race other runners are in.

5. Stop complaining. Recognize that each race is different just as each runner is different. Each runner and race has its own challenges so count your blessings.

6. Recognize and understand that our success or failure in our race is based on the reconditioning of our mind. We have to set a right attitude, build and use a vocabulary that is full of positivity.

7. Recognize that what we choose to put our trust and faith in affects our outcome.

8. Choose to see the beauty and opportunity in it rather than the obstacles.

9. Learn to ignore and distance ourselves from negative people. Don’t allow their noise to distract or discourage you.

10. Lastly, recognizing that falling from time to time is part of the process and is therefore normal.  Remember, the real winners at the end of the race would be those individuals who got back up and kept running till the very end.

No matter what your race track in life looks like, trust that God is in control. Understand that all you need to do is tap into His strength and not your own to finish the race.

Like a race car on the track when it stops for the pit crew to make sure everything is in order.   We have a pit crew there for us also. God the Father, Jesus Christ His Son and the Holy Spirit. We’re not alone in our race although it may sometimes feel like that.

God is always there cheering us on every step of the way. We have to merely ask for His intervention and hand control of the steering wheel of our lives over to Him.

We want God to just get us to the finish line without having to stop, learn, fight or overcome anything.  God loves us far too much for that.  He wants us to grow and overcome our weaknesses.  He will hold our hand while we learn, lift us up when we fall but we have to still do some of the work.

So run your own race and don’t focus on anyone else. Trust your heavenly pit crew to see you through.  God wants to help us in every area of our lives but we have to ask for His help which is the easy part.   The challenge comes when we have to let go of the steering wheel of our lives and sit back.  When we learn this, something amazing happens – we see life in a whole new way.

So trust Him to see you through to the end. As you run your race and I run mine let us make every effort to learn, grow and enjoy the good that is in our lives. When the challenges come just say,” Lord, I know you got this!

Thank you for making this blog one of your stops in this journey called life.

Have an amazing weekend! 🙂

SPEAK The Change You Want To See

Pleasant Wednesday morning to each of you. 🙂  Today,  I want to talk about something I have been practising lately and the changes it has resulted in not only in my life but that of my family memebers as well.

SPEAK the CHANGE, you want to see around you.

We often hear people refer to “the power of the tongue” and that how we use our words can affect not only our lives positively or negatively but also the lives of others.  Recently, I have been testing this belief and I can say that based on my experience, this is true.

What did I do differently?

I spoke positivity into every situation and on every family member including myself for what I wanted to see happen in their lives. For example: Over my eldest son, I said “You are an obedient and respectful child.  You are going to do exceeding well in your exams. You are intelligent.  You are full of wisdom and understanding.  You are a child of God and you will prosper in ALL that you do. No weapon formed against you shall prosper. In Jesus Name. Amen.”

Every day I said it in my quite time and directly to his face.  I spoke good things into his future despite what his current situation or behaviour would have been and God is doing what only He can do in his life.  Thank you Jesus, for the power of prayer and the power of my words.

It does not matter what you see before you once you believe with all of your heart that God can fix the things that need fixing and trust Him to do it.  He will!

So effective immediately, start declaring and decreeing in your mind, to your fears, for your family members lives, your body, your finances, your workplace and your spirit, the future and victory you want and need to see manifested.

Let’s use our words to bless others.  Let our words stir change within ourselves and others for betterment.  Let us encourage and inspire others to be greater than they were yesterday as we speak the same for ourselves also. 🙂

My prayer:

Heavenly Father, let all who read this take from it what You need them to receive so they can equip themselves, take action and speak into existence the healing, restoration, transformation and deliverance from all that is affecting them and their families today.  As we use our faith like never before to give life to the words of our mouths we put our trust in You that victory is coming. In Jesus Name. Amen.

I declare and decree that today we are better than we were yesterday and tomorrow we will be better than we are today.  Today is going to be great! Believe it and receive it. 🙂

Thank you for making this blog one of your stops in this journey called life.

Take A Step Back

Would you believe I just wrote a whole post on this and I pressed the wrong key during formatting and everything vanished. 🙁  Why me Lord!  I thought to myself as I tried feverishly to recover my work.  Very upsetting as efforts proved futile!

I was so angry at myself for not making sure my work was saving as I went along.  I was so caught up in what I was doing that I neglected to pay attention.  I felt like giving up and then I remember what this post was all about and decided to try again. 🙂

Roda over at Growing Self actually inspired me to write this after reading her post called A Journey.

No matter what the flood waters of life throw at you – don’t give up!  Stop looking at your problem through those tired eyes and stressed brain.  Try these tips.

  1. Take a step back to get a better view.
  2. Clear your mind by listening to some music or doing something fun to relax.
  3. Get creative.
  4. Get resourceful.
  5. Don’t listen to the negativity of others.  They are still caught up in their own mess and couldn’t help you even if they wanted to.
  6. Most important of all, don’t allow the frustration of it all to prevent YOU from unearthing a better outcome for YOURSELF.
  7. Change your position.  You’ll be surprised just how different or simple a problem can appear based on where you stand and how you choose to look at it.
  8. Monitor your attitude.  It’s hard to find the solution or breakthrough you’re looking for if your attitude is constantly negative.  Believe that you CAN and WILL overcome the challenge and work towards it.
  9. Believe in yourself.

Have a good night and thanks for stopping by. 🙂

Weather Forecast

Today’s weather forecast is cloudy with a chance of thunder storm and scattered showers.

If life was so simple to predict.  It would probably read, “Today would be full of fun and laughter with some possibility of foolishness or drama but keep your head up and push through it anyway. ”

At the end of the day, even after the all of the rainfall the sky eventually clears and out comes the sun.  When we’re really lucky we even see a rainbow or two.  🙂

Never let the scattered showers keep you down!  The sun will come out so you better position yourself to see and enjoy it.  Have a wonderful weekend.

Be No One Else But You

Pixabay.com

You have the power

You have the strength

You have the courage

You have the attitude

You have the life

To be anyone you want

So why be anyone else but YOU!

We’re all unique and beautifully made.  Never let another human being make you feel less than or not good enough but YOU ARE AWESOME!

Failure is a choice!

Of all the words that we could use to describe ourselves why would we choose “failure”.

Failure is a word that is given meaning as a result of something that has happened or perhaps did not happen the way it was intended.   It is sometimes used to describe an event, a thing and even people.

Are you a failure?  You are what YOU believe and how you behave!

You are only a “failure” when and if YOU accept that title.  For a failure is someone who has accepted defeat.  They refuse to fight for what they want.  They lack perseverance and a burning desire to overcome their obstacles.

Failure as it relates to people,  is a type of attitude and a behaviour.  It is a choice.

So why not, choose differently?  Let’s choose to persevere!  No matter how tough things get, no matter what negative talk they throw at us, even when we’re standing alone.  It is the will to persevere that would bring us through anything.

There is no shame in failing at something especially if you have given it your best.

Failure is just a word never let it define YOU.  You define who you are by your actions and behaviour.

Failure should NEVER be allowed to stop us from trying for that is when we truly fail.
