The Miranda Sings Award (originally posted 25.09.2017)

Thank you Roda for nominating me for this award.  It is the first time I have received it and I’m grateful that you thought of sharing it with me.  Roda blogs over at Growing Self and trust me when I tell you this she is amazing and very inspirational. You won’t regret visiting so be sure to check her out.

The Miranda Sings Award is all about Self Love.  🙂  So let’s get into it.

Rules:

  • Announce your win with a post, and link the blogger who nominated you.
  • Include the featured image on your blog post.
  • Nominate 10 bloggers (or as many as you can think of) and link your awardees in the post.
  • List 7 things you love about yourself. (This can be about your appearance, your personality, your achievements, etc.)
  • Don’t use negative connotation (i.e. Don’t say things like – “I’m prettier than an average person.” or “People have told me I’m smart.” You are pretty. You are smart.)

7 things I love about myself:

  • I love my strength of mind, body and spirit.  It took me some time to learn and truly appreciate just how strong I was but the journey was worth it. I pray that I never forget! 🙂

  • I love that I can learn most things very quickly.  I just have to put my mind to it.

  • I love seeing my creative side shine  Whether it is writing poetry, writing an inspirational piece, designing or painting each experience brings with it a feeling of accomplishment and joy.

  • I love my ability to help inspire and encourage others.  It feels good helping others see the good and positive things in themselves that have always been there but just hidden.

  • I love and accept the way God has chosen to craft me both inside and out.

  • I love that I take my role as a mother seriously.  There are so many children out there not receiving the love, care and attention that they need and it breaks my heart.  We have been entrusted not only as mothers but as parents with a responsibility to care, nurture and protect the lives we’ve been blessed with and we need to do our part.

  • I love that I now understand that happiness is where I make it.  If we live our lives relying on others to make and keep us happy then we set ourselves up for disappointment.

My nominees are:

  1. Simple Ula
  2. Hussein Allam
  3. Sar Wanders
  4. Cheila
  5. Shinavyblogspot

Thanks for stopping by.

  10. When not blogging, what do you do for fun? Fun, I believe is best had when shared with the ones you love and who love you.  Watch movies, go to the beach, go to the arcade, sit at home playing board games or just creating our own entertainment.  Fun can be had anywhere once all present have the right attitude. 🙂

Blogger Recognition Award #2

A special thank you to the lovely Nel over at Reactionary Tales for nominating me for this award.

If you are not already familiar with Nel’s blog, you’re missing out because she blogs about experiences, shares photos, talks about books and she even has a weekly segment about endangered animals that I enjoy reading. So don’t be a stranger check her out.  🙂

The Rules

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  • Give a brief story of how your blog started.
  • Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
  • Select 10 other bloggers you want to give this award to.
  • Comment on each blog and let them know you have nominated them and provide the link to the post you created.

“Living vs Existing”– How it all began

I was actually driven to write a book about called “How to Find Your Gift”. When I completed my first draft I shared it with my sister who was so moved by it that she encouraged me to write more and share my insight and experiences with others.

I was uncertain at first if a blog was the way to go but I wanted to at least give it a try and I’m glad I did.  🙂 The creation of Living vs Existing helped me not only reach others but also helped me find more and more of myself.   I will always be grateful to Candice for always believing in me.

My advice to new bloggers

  1. Believe in yourself and your abilities.  The fact that you’ve even taken the step to create a blog says that you have something to say and share. Give it your best!
  2. Don’t be afraid to try something new.  At the early stages of blogging most of us are trying to find our fit in this big blogging community.  We may start off in one direction and find ourselves feeling drawn to another and that’s okay.   Visit other blogs, see what you like or feel drawn to, pay attention to how that makes you feel and try to develop your own unique style. You won’t know how good or great you can be if you don’t try.

My nominees are:

  1. Life, more than existence

Thanks for stopping by.  Thanks again Nel for the opportunity to share this award with others.

Sunshine Blogger Award #2 & #3

A special thank you to two wonderful bloggers Bhavika from  Bhavika24 and Roda over at Growing Self for nominating me for the Sunshine Blogger Award.  I am honoured to be considered by such amazing bloggers.

Each of these ladies brings their unique style and sunshine to their readers. Trust me when I tell you guys to visit their blogs because you would not be disappointed.

The Sunshine Blogger Award is given to those who are creative, positive and inspiring, while spreading sunshine to the blogging community.

  • List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo on your post and/or on your blog.

Bhavika’s questions

1.What/who gives you peace in life?

My peace in life comes from God. I pray and ask him to grant me peace of mind so that I’m not overwhelmed by the challenges that come my way.  After God, knowing that my family is happy and well-cared for gives me a sense of peace.  🙂

2.If given a chance, which confession would you like to make?

Honey, been there done that!  Next 🙂

3.What do you think is the most positive and negative thing about my blog?

The most positive thing about your blog is YOU.  You are positive and try to inspire others there’s nothing negative about that.  If nothing else, I want to encourage you to continue doing what you do. 🙂

4.How would you define “Life”?

Life is what we make it. It is our experiences both the good and the bad. These experiences help shape who we are but they do not define us.  We get to determine how we are remembered when ‘life’ is no more through what we do today.

5.What made you blog?

For me this is a combination of who and what. My sister encouraged me to take my writing from paper and translate it into a blog so that I would be able to share my experiences and some of my perspectives on life, people and relationships and other topics in a more engaging environment.  I will always be grateful to her for that push. 🙂  Thank you Candice!

6.Your favorite quote?

“Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.” Charles R. Swindoll

7.Book which changed your way of thinking?

Reposition Yourself – by T. D. Jakes

8.My post, which you liked the most?

You have a few posts that I like but Darkness and Dear Stranger stand out the most for me.

I have a few favourites so I can’t highlight just one.  Each blogger I choose to follow brings something unique to the ‘table’ that I enjoy and see myself learning from and for that they are all my favourites and that of course includes YOU. 🙂
