Special

Special describes ME

And special describes YOU

We’re like specially planted  trees,

Placed on this earth to be ALL that we can be

In it all, happy and free.

Although people and life can sometimes get us down

We MUST stand firm and HOLD our ground

Don’t be alarmed these are just passing clouds

Their only purpose is to weigh us down

They know our WORTH and this is NO joke

For we are SPECIAL, so own YOUR worth.

Through the storms and heavy rain

Our roots in deep, we’ll persevere through the pain

As we hold on tight, FAITH will be our guiding LIGHT

So don’t fear, because our FUTURE is BRIGHT.

Although we can’t see it, that does not mean we can’t be it

For we are SPECIAL.

I know sometimes when we’re feeling blue

Special is the last thing we feel, that’s true!

But just look around the world today

There is so much that I can say

But instead,I’ll remind you to pray.

Because we don’t have all the answers

We should seek God for guidance

To give us strength and deliverance

From the things that often weigh us down

Stand up straight and wear our crowns

For we ARE special.

Hope you’re having a great day.  Thanks for stopping by.

Music Reflection Mondays #7

Welcome back to Music Reflection Mondays I am officially on vacation but I have not started my adventure and relaxation just yet because the home improvement projects have begun.

Later this week however, the kids and I would be off to get some relaxation and fun for a few days so I would not be posting as often.  I know you totally understand. 🙂

How was your weekend?  What sort of music have you been listening to?   I want to highlight some songs that help inspire, encourage and motivate us. 🙂  Can you think of any songs like that?

Here are some of my picks.

  1. Man In The Mirror – by Michael Jackson
  2. We Are The World – by USA Today
  3. Fight Song – by Rachel Platten
  4. When You Believe – by Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey
  5. I’m Gonna Be Ready -by Rolanda Adams
  6. I Believe – by Rolanda Adams
  7. I Believe I Can Fly – by Rolanda Adams
  8. I Look To You – by Whitney Houston
  9. Why We Sing – by Kirk Franklin

Music is like food for the soul.  It can bring comfort to the broken-hearted. It can inspire and motivate us if we just open our minds and our hearts. Don’t just listen to the music – feel it!

Do you have any favourites above?  Feel free to add some of you favourites in comments below.  I’m would love to know. 🙂

Thanks for stopping by.  Hope you have a great week.

5 Reasons Why YOU Matter

Many times we go through life experiencing different challenges that can sometimes leave us feeling broken sometimes to the point where we may feel like we don’t matter.  Tonight, I want to share with you 5 reasons why YOU DO matterno matter how the situation you’re going through makes you feel.  Always know that you are…

  1. You matter because you EXIST!  I believe that each of us has a purpose in this life that we’ve been created for or we would not be here.
  2. You matter because the CONTRIBUTION you have to make in this world is incomplete.  Many of us go through life feeling lost and uncertain about what we are really meant to do with our lives or who we’re meant to be in this world.
  3. You matter because there is SOMEONE out there that NEEDS YOU.
  4. You matter because YOU bring something UNIQUE and SPECIAL to this world that NO one else can do like you.   Find and ignite the fire within and even you would be amazed of just how wonderful you truly are.
  5. You matter because if you didn’t those negative people in your life would not be spending so much time and energy trying to break you down.

I understand that sometimes the challenges and issues of life can suck us dry at times emotionally, physically and mentally.  However, I don’t believe we should let those situations take from us the very things that give us strength to persevere and that is : self-love and self-worth. Never underestimate the importance and significance of those two words over the happiness in your life.

Without the above we are all just empty vessels making noise.

We ALL have a contribution to make no matter how small so don’t count yourself out.

Block out the noise and nurture from within the real you.

You are a beautiful soul with so much to give to this world.  You’ve just never been told – YOU MATTER!  🙂

Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful weekend.  🙂

Only a dream

I can’t remember how we got here

But this place feels magical so I do not care

As the others huddle up closely in fear

I focus on the feel of the seductive wind in my hair

………………………………………………………………….

Although uncertain where to go from here

The bright light from the golden bridge

Is quietly calling me near

I’ve seen this place only in my dreams

……………………………………………………………..

Everything I must admit is not what it seems

In the distance, we all hear loud screams

As things around us get blurry

I close my eyes as tight as I can

As I try to dream my friends

Out of this imaginary land

I repeat to myself, “it’s only a dream”

“It’s only a dream.”

The Power of Love

Let’s talk about ‘love’.  The kind of love that actually grows with the couple over time and not diminishes. The kind of love that keeps people together especially during the tough times; through uncertainty and despite  imperfections.   The kind of love that transcends distance and time.

The kind of love that keeps you so focused on your loved one and the happiness you want for each other that you don’t allow distractions like other people to steal your joy.  The kind of love that can forgive, regroup and truly move forward together by mutual choice as ‘one’ learning from mistakes to build a better, brighter and stronger future together.

This type of love is a powerful thing and it should never be taken for granted.  I recognise that we can’t help who we fall in love with but sometimes we meet people who do not reciprocate that kind of love and they tend to take advantage of our love for them.   They may abuse it and their actions can sometimes drain us in every sense of the word and can sometimes leave us feeling angry, resentful, depressed and unhappy with them, the world and ourselves.

So, what do we do?  Choose not to love another human being for as long as we live? Be overly cautious and keep everyone at arm’s length never allowing them to get too close to us?  I respect these self-preservation tactics but I also know that “when it’s your time, it’s your time” there’s no escaping love.

I have learnt that love can and will find you no matter how good you think you’re hiding.  No matter the obstacles and walls you put up to protect your heart from the influence of another.  Love is unpredictable and it will find you when you least expect it hence you’re never ready when it comes.  It can knock you off your feet. It can be intoxicating and overwhelming – feeling good and scary all at the same time.  It is known to consume your thoughts and effect your behaviour in ways you could not imagine.

When and if you find that special someone who melts your heart and you melt theirs – treasure each other, the moments and the memories you share.  Love although unpredictable is also beautiful and special because it is not something you experience everyday so cherish it.
