Health and Wellness Fridays: Healing and Breakthroughs in 2018

Blessing to each of you on this beautiful Friday morning. Glory to God for the brilliance that is the sun which magnifies the beauty all around us. Glory to God for the magnificence that is the moon that lights our way even in the darkness.  Glory to God for His mercy, His love, His grace and His favour that washes over us not only in our highs but our lows. Thank you Father for all You do, have done and will do in our lives. In Jesus name, amen!

Today, we’re going to look at Health and Wellness in a non-traditional manner.  I believe that the quality of our health and wellness has a lot to do with our choice of foods as well as our consumption of those foods; and our daily habits such as smoking, consumption of alcohol, exercise, sleeping habits and our thinking.

However, I also believe that they are the only things that determine our overall health and wellness. For there are things in our lives, minds, bodies and spirits that need more than diet, exercise and sleep alone can provide. I’m speaking about a meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ.

Did you know that you can be healed with your faith in Jesus Christ?

Did you know that you can walk away from death’s door with faith in Jesus Christ, if that is His will for your life?

Did you know that you can believe yourself into a miracle with faith in Jesus Christ?

Did you know that all you need to improve your health and overall wellness is already in the Bible?

Did you know that even faith as little as a mustard seed can bring the impossible to pass?

Did you know that anything and everything is possible with Jesus Christ?

Today, I’m going to share with you some scriptures from the Bible that you can choose to activate with your faith, for God to work within your own situation or that of a loved one. Nothing is impossible for God! Many times we put our trust and faith in medicine, people and sometimes even ourselves when we should be putting it in the Lord, our Healer. He is the Lord of Lord and the King of Kings. He is life itself.

Here are some quotes from both the Old and New Testaments taken from NKJV Bible. Please know there are many more so seek them out and trust that as you read them Jesus is working in you.

I declare and decree that IF you believe you shall receive the healing in whatever your situations are. When Jesus says, YES no one and nothing can say no. Claim your healing in Jesus name. Amen!

  • “Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am weak; O Lord, heal me, for my bones are troubled.” Psalm 6:2

  • “Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” Psalm 103:1-5

  • “My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh.” Proverbs 4:20-22

  • “O Lord, by these things men live; And in all these things is the life of my spirit; So You will restore me and make me live.” Isaiah 38:16

  • “Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; Save me, and I shall be saved, For You are my praise.”  Jeremiah 17:14

  • “For I will restore health to you, And heal you of your wounds,” says the Lord. Jeremiah 30:17

  • “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.” Mark 5:34

  • “He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, Lest they should see with their eyes,  Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them.” John 12:40
  • “by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus.” Acts 4:30

It is my desire dear friends and brothers and sisters in Christ that we no longer walk around in 2018 feeling stuck and hopeless in whatever challenge that may be before us.  Let us take hold of the Word of God, read it, soak in it and cling to it because has the power of life and healing.

You may be just a scripture away from the miracle you want and need in your life. Trust in God and He will see you through.

Have a wonderful day and an even better weekend.

Thank you for making this blog one of your stops in this journey called life.

We’ve been misled!

For many years the human race has been taught that our basic needs to survive are: food, water, air, shelter, clothing and now some have even added sleep.   The scientific basis for this fact, is undeniable. The truth is, those things only meet the needs or requirements of our physical bodies.

What about our spiritual needs?

The spiritual needs I’m referring to, are those of our spirit and soul.  These invisible and yet so powerful aspects of our core are often neglected because many of us don’t know better.  If they are not nurtured, loved, taught and equipped with what they need – there is a sense of void that many of us experience that is often difficult to explain.  There is no amount of food or water that can fill them up.  This is why some people who although they have great wealth, sometimes find themselves feeling like their lives are still missing something.

Persons who go beyond the surface of their lives and develop their spiritual core experience a higher satisfaction in life. These spiritually-minded individuals tend to display: greater optimism, happier, hopeful, purposeful, service-oriented, determined, driven, proactive, helpful, genuine and content in who they are.  They take satisfaction and joy in both the big and little things.

They see the importance and benefit of building their own personal relationships with God.  Such persons recognize that there are powers at work in this world that the eyes can’t see and as such ignorance is not a luxury they can afford. They are what I’ll like to label as, “Spiritually Awaken“.

We grow up being taught that all we need to be happy and successful in life is to study hard, work harder, get a good job, get married and have a family.  We have been taught to measure our success against the parameters of what the world has identified as “success” such as wealth and other material things.  In so doing, many of us have found ourselves frustrated, angry, disappointed, unhappy and depressed with life itself. Both those who have actually attained it as well as those who have not.

Friends, if we continue to focus solely on the needs of our bodies our lives would never be as FULL as it was meant to be.

Question: How do we begin to nurture our spirits?

Answer: By growing in our knowledge, wisdom and understanding of Jesus Christ through reading the Word of God found in the Bible.

The truth is, we’ve been misled to believe that all we need for life is food, water, air, shelter, clothing and sleep.  After years of attaining and enjoying these ‘necessities for life’ I found myself still not living.  I now realize that these things only allow us to exist within this world.  You see, our attention has purposely been shifted away from God. In other instances, God has been portrayed as a concept or a character in a story than a Real Living God.  Hence, many of us have no real relationship with Him.

Hence, the use and importance of the Bible is often downplayed in many instances as just a ‘religious book’. The Bible, is so much more than that.  It is God’s Word documented for us to learn from, live by and prosper.  If you have a bible, READ IT!  If you don’t, INVEST IN ONE!   If you want to live your life more abundantly – FIND OUT WHO JESUS CHRIST IS and WHAT HE HAS DONE FOR ALL OF US.

Life without Jesus Christ is not living.  He is the soil that we should be planted in and His Word is the food, water and nourishment for our souls and spirits.  We must seek Him and ask Him to remove any hindrance from our lives that has been weighing us down.

My Prayer:

Father, as some seek You out in 2018 for the first time and others get reacquainted with You show them how wonderful and mighty You are to ALL those who love, serve and obey Your Word. Give them the courage, strength, wisdom and understanding needed to overcome the deficiencies in their lives.  May they end 2018 stronger and wiser than they started. In Jesus name, amen!

The Source of life itself is Jesus Christ. Jesus saith unto him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”  (John 14:6)

Will You Trust God?

Pleasant greetings to each of you.  Heavenly Father, as I prepare to write this post give me the right words to deliver this so that it impacts all those You intend it for. May it open our eyes, minds, hearts and spirits as to what is needed of and from us so that we may experience the changes we’ve been praying for. In Jesus name, amen.

We often hear believers in Jesus Christ say, “You just have to trust God.” I say it all the time on my blog and even in my everyday life.  However, it occurred to me just now, that this word “trust” is often easier said than done.  Just look at how difficult it is for some of us to apply it to our everyday lives and relationships. It’s no wonder so many people find it hard to trust in someone or something they cannot see.

Thankfully, I have learnt to trust God more and more over the years but it was not easy.  After many life lessons, stumbles, prayers and perseverance my breakthroughs eventually came one by one.  These experiences both the good and bad have helped increase my faith and belief in God.

As I look back, I can say now that those seasons in my life were not meant to be the end of me but rather were there to hopefully push and pull me into my own awareness and relationship with God.  I am thankful that I endured and that God gave me the strength to persevere so that I could overcome them.

My friends, you can learn to do this too. You can develop and strengthen your relationship with God.  You can learn to trust God as you exercise your faith in Him daily. When you do, He will show up in your life and do things that you would have no doubt that ONLY God could have done for you. 🙂

Here are some things that can hinder our development of trust and faith in God:

  • Many of us know of God but have no real relationship with Him.   To develop a relationship with God we need to seek Him daily.  We need to ask Him to intervene in our life and work on our behalf for the things we so tirelessly try to fix and go after ourselves.  Then, allow Him to do His thing.
  • Many of us are caught up in religion when our PRIMARY FOCUS should be solely on GODWho He is? What He stands for?  What are His expectations of us? How can we become what He needs us to be? All of these are the questions we should be asking and seeking the answers for.
  • Many of us are walking around not receiving the breakthroughs we need in our lives because we are ignorant to what we truly need to be successful.  We need Jesus Christ.  We need to read and meditate on the Word of God.  We need the wisdom that the word of God provides if we want to be truly successful in life.
  • Many of us want more out of life but are not willing to give up some things or some negative people to grow into who we are meant to be.
  • Many of us want to be successful but are not willing to do the work. Hence some of us sit, complain and constantly compare rather than aggressively going after what we claim to want.
  • Many of us lack patience. God’s timing and our ‘right now attitude’ will always clash. As a result, we feel frustrated and at times angry with ourselves and sometimes God.
  • Many of us have grown dependent on the church or a particular individual (religious leader) for our deliverance when the truth and the fact is ALL we need Jesus Christ.  The purpose of the church and a religious leader is to educate us about the word of God.  It is our responsibility to build and nurture our own individual relationships with God. It is not the responsibility of the church or the pastor.  We need to take control of our own relationships with God through Jesus Christ and not rely on any institution or individual. Their role is to guide but we have to do the work.

God wants us to diligently seek Him.  God wants us to desire Him more than the things of this world. God wants to help us in our everyday affairs be it our finances, relationships, marriages, parenting, workplace or our health concerns but he won’t force Himself into them. We must invite Him to take control and let Him do it His way.

If we have no expectation of God then we have no reason to trust Him.  Expectation will build our faith, faith will develop our trust and all three can deliver our miracle.

Our faith and trust in God will grow as:

We choose to trust Him even when everyone else has walked away.

We choose to trust Him even when we are unclear or uncertain of our next step.

We choose to trust Him even when people think we are crazy.

We choose to trust Him even when we don’t understand.

We choose to trust Him even when things look a mess?

We choose to trust Him even when it hurts?

Friends, if we can do this, God will DO for us what we could not do for ourselves.  He would show us and all the doubters that He is Lord.  He would show us that no matter what our situations may look like He is in control.

Keep God at the center of your life and everything else will fall into place.

FAITH is like a muscle

Thank you Lord for this new day.  Thank you for another opportunity to share, encourage and enlighten someone today.  Help me deliver this message in a way that reaches the person or people You need it to reach.  May it bless me and ALL who read it. In Jesus name, amen!

What is faith?

Faith is a gift from God.  It is that unseen feeling that can be classified as trust or confidence that allows the impossible to become possible.  Faith forces you to look beyond your circumstance and into your possibility.

Is faith just for a chosen few?

No! In the Bible (Romans 12:3) to be exact, it is written, “God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.”    You see, according to the Word, we’ve ALL been given faith as a gift from God.  However, although we all have faith not all of us choose to activate it.

How do we activate and strengthen our faith?

Here are some tips on how to activate and strengthen our faith:

1. We activate our faith through prayer.

2. We activate our faith by reading the Word daily.

3. We activate our faith through worship.

4. We activate our faith when we refuse to be guided and locked into our own understanding.

5. We activate our faith by looking not at our circumstances but to God.

6. We activate our faith by speaking positivity into a negative situation.

6. We activate our faith when we let go of our fears.

7. We activate our faith when we place our trust in God.

8. We activate our faith when we don’t limit or base our victory solely on what our eyes can see or what we hear with our ears.

9. We activate our faith by believing in God’s ability and His word with all our hearts and minds that He can do ALL for us that we cannot do for ourselves.

10. We activate our faith by starving our doubts.

11. We activate our faith by not allowing negative people to influence our thoughts.

12. We activate our faith by just believing.

I heard a pastor on television this morning say, “Faith is like a muscle.”  I agree totally with him on that statement, the reality is, if we don’t use or strengthen our muscles they won’t work the way they’re supposed to.  It’s the same principle with our faith, if we don’t exercise it or use it we won’t strengthen it or develop it.

In the bible, it is also written, Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 12:20) NKJV

If we desire great faith and things in our lives to change or improve then we need to activate our faith, develop our faith and sustain our faith.   We have to do the work!  We have to believe and trust God like never before.  We have to read the Word and ask God to guide us and strengthen us.

As you go out into the world, what are you going to challenging your faith for today?  Healing for your mind, body and spirit; restoration of your finances; healing for a loved one; promotion on the job; maybe it’s employment; or a home. Whatever the desire is on your heart use your faith to bring it to reality.

Activate your faith muscle, feed it and nurture it and it will take you to a whole other level in your life. 🙂

Hope in a Hopeless Situation

What is hopelessness?

Hopelessness is that feeling deep down on the inside that tells you:

  • Don’t bother trying anymore!
  • What’s the point anyway!
  • It’s over!
  • You’re all alone!
  • No one cares!
  • Give up!
  • You’re done!

Hopelessness looks at the situations we’ve failed to get ourselves out of and convinces us it is over.  My friends, when we go through life without the knowledge of Jesus Christ, who He is, what He represents and how much He loves us, it is easy to get caught up in feelings of hopelessness.

The truth is, even in what may seem like a hopeless situation with Jesus Christ on our side, there is always the possibility of a favourable outcome.  With Jesus, there is always hope, because there is:

  • No situation too difficult for Him.
  • No problem too big for Him.
  • No such thing as impossible for Jesus Christ.

No matter how hopeless your situation may appear today, I want you to know that Jesus wants to help.  He wants to deliver you out of it.   He wants to show up in your life and do great things. Through Jesus, there is deliverance for all those who believe and trust in Him.

The facts:

  1. No matter where we are in our lives right now, Jesus Christ will meet us right where we are to take us where we’re meant to be.
  2. He loves us even though some of us don’t know Him.  His love for us is so great that He came to this world, to die for our sins and rose again so that we can have life and not death. This is true love.
  3. We have a choice to make, life or death?  Once we choose Jesus, we will not only have life but we will have it more abundantly.
  4. We must ask God to forgive our sins and surrender who we were. Choosing to walk in the truth of who we have become as we are now one with Him.

In closing, I leave you with this, hopelessness is a symptom of a deficiency in Jesus Christ.  The only way to cure hopelessness is through reading the word of God daily; meditating in it and applying it to our lives. Believing in it more than what is before your everyday senses of sight, hearing and touch.

Don’t walk around anymore embracing the lie that hopelessness teaches us instead let us choose to embrace and hold on tightly to : truth, hope and love, that is, Jesus Christ.

Run Your Own Race

Life is often viewed as a race and I think that’s because we’re always looking at how well those around us seem to be doing when compared to us.  When we do this, we often neglect the beauty and the blessings going on within our own lives that we should be grateful for.

The truth is, how well we do in our own race called life is dependent on how well we handle the challenges and the lessons along the way.

Now ask yourself this:

  • How high am I prepared to jump over my hurdles to get to my destination?
  • How badly do I want to see my dreams come through?
  • What or who am I prepared to let go of to move forward into my destiny?

Based on your answers to those questions.  Here are some things we would need to do to start running our own races more effectively.

1. Seek to align our lives with the word of God. When we seek God’s word and try to apply it to our lives amazing things happen. We experience improvement in our relationships, business, workplace, our kids, our health, our thinking and behaviour as well as our finances.  God’s word provides guidance, understanding, breakthroughs, wisdom and peace.

2. Take control of our thoughts. We can do this if we stop worrying about the race ahead of us and just tackle it one hurdle at a time.

3. Focus on the race in front of you. Stop focusing on the race the other runners are running.

4. Magnify our strengths and work on our weaknesses. Stop comparing our race to the race other runners are in.

5. Stop complaining. Recognize that each race is different just as each runner is different. Each runner and race has its own challenges so count your blessings.

6. Recognize and understand that our success or failure in our race is based on the reconditioning of our mind. We have to set a right attitude, build and use a vocabulary that is full of positivity.

7. Recognize that what we choose to put our trust and faith in affects our outcome.

8. Choose to see the beauty and opportunity in it rather than the obstacles.

9. Learn to ignore and distance ourselves from negative people. Don’t allow their noise to distract or discourage you.

10. Lastly, recognizing that falling from time to time is part of the process and is therefore normal.  Remember, the real winners at the end of the race would be those individuals who got back up and kept running till the very end.

No matter what your race track in life looks like, trust that God is in control. Understand that all you need to do is tap into His strength and not your own to finish the race.

Like a race car on the track when it stops for the pit crew to make sure everything is in order.   We have a pit crew there for us also. God the Father, Jesus Christ His Son and the Holy Spirit. We’re not alone in our race although it may sometimes feel like that.

God is always there cheering us on every step of the way. We have to merely ask for His intervention and hand control of the steering wheel of our lives over to Him.

We want God to just get us to the finish line without having to stop, learn, fight or overcome anything.  God loves us far too much for that.  He wants us to grow and overcome our weaknesses.  He will hold our hand while we learn, lift us up when we fall but we have to still do some of the work.

So run your own race and don’t focus on anyone else. Trust your heavenly pit crew to see you through.  God wants to help us in every area of our lives but we have to ask for His help which is the easy part.   The challenge comes when we have to let go of the steering wheel of our lives and sit back.  When we learn this, something amazing happens – we see life in a whole new way.

So trust Him to see you through to the end. As you run your race and I run mine let us make every effort to learn, grow and enjoy the good that is in our lives. When the challenges come just say,” Lord, I know you got this!

Thank you for making this blog one of your stops in this journey called life.

Have an amazing weekend! 🙂

Never Say Never

Obstacles and challenges come part and parcel with being alive.  I doubt very much that there is anyone on this earth that has great days every single day, free from challenges, obstacles or loss.

However, there are a few people out there who have learnt and continue to learn the importance of not magnifying their problems by the words they use to describe them.  The key this lies not only our attitudes to our problems but our choice of words.

Some things we might typically say when all seems lost include:

“This debt is just so huge. It would take forever to get out of this.”

“I will never get well.”

I am such a failure.”

I never do anything right.”

“I will never get out of this.”

The statements above give the challenges we’re facing strength and magnify them even more.  When we speak in the “I’m already defeated” language, yes, I made that up :), we’re telling ourselves there’s nothing else we can do – so give up. Don’t even waste time searching, exploring, investigating or trying.

When we speak those words over our lives, they become a verbal expression of the ‘I surrender’ action.  The “I’m already defeated” language should be removed from our vocabulary immediately.

What should we do instead?

  1. Get our lives in alignment with God’s word.  I have found that as I read His word (the Bible) and apply it to my life that my problems, fears and concerns don’t control my thoughts anymore.
  2. Seek Him daily through prayer and worship. I have seen and continue to experience breakthroughs in my life so long as I keep God at the center of all I do.  This practice has brought me a sense of peace that was lacking. I used to be overwhelmed and stressed out because of fear and worry.
  3.  Learn to let go and let God do His thing.  We can only do this when we learn to trust Him. The way we trust the bank to have our money accessible when we use the ATM.  The way we trust our credit cards to have the funds we need when we pull them out to make a purchase. We must be confident in His ability and power to deliver us out of the strongholds we’re in.
  4. Thank God every day for the work He is doing behind the scenes to resolve our problems.  In spite of the situation before us, praise Him. In the midst of the confusion and chaos, praise Him.  He will step in and do for us what we could not do for ourselves. I can testify to that.  He proved my doubters wrong. He can do the same for you.
  5. Starve our doubts. We do this when we speak positivity in our situations even when rain is falling.  Even when the devil whispers that we can’t do it, we praise God anyway for the victory He is bringing our way.
  6. Grow and strengthen our faith. Our faith won’t grow if we don’t nurture it daily.  We can do this by trusting and believing with our everything that God is ALL we need. He is everything and there’s NO one or NO thing greater or bigger than Him.
  7. Lastly, don’t just read the word.  Don’t just hear the word. Live it, Breathe it and Feed your spirit and soul with it daily!

There are many stories in the bible where because of the faith of believers God blessed them.  Their trust and faith in God brought them supernatural blessings and favour. They chose to see God as greater than their situations and that was all God needed to work miracles in their lives. Just a few include:

  • Abraham and Sarah who were in their ninety’s when God gave them a son. (Genesis 17)
  • Daniel a boy who slayed the giant Goliath. (1 Samuel 17)
  • Joshua and the gates of Jericho. (Joshua 6)
  • Moses and the Red Sea crossing. (Exodus 14)

Dear friends, we are never too old, too young or too messed up to be used by God to do anything.  Once, we believe and trust in Him He would open all doors for us. Before I go, I leave you with this piece of scripture from Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV)

Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you,

Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.
