What’s Your Story?

We all have a story.

Some stories are long while others are short.

Some stories are filled with trials and tribulations. Others with a few obstacles here and there.

Some stories leave us feeling broken, lost, ashamed, unworthy and stuck.

Some stories even push us to be better, help us grow stronger, encourage us to overcome, to persevere and conquer every obstacle that comes.  Never accepting defeat we look for ways to overcome and find victory.

Our stories are a part of us but they are NOT who we are.  We ARE who we want to be NOT what happened to us.

Some stories try to steal and deny us of our destiny, joy and happiness while others PUSH us closer to our destiny.  We just need to REACH OUT and CLAIM IT.

Stories are written every day and how you want your story to end is ultimately up to YOU.  Are you going to sit by and be a bystander in your own life?   Don’t be a prisoner in your own story, write the ending you deserve.

It’s time to BREAK the cycle and START anew.

All you need to do is BELIEVE and WANT it bad enough.  Of course, based on our stories there would be some healing needed and even learning new patterns as we put aside the old thoughts and behaviours.

In the end, what really matters is WHERE you want to be and HOW much effort are you willing to put into getting there. 🙂  A happy ending is still possible no matter what your story is.

Thank you for stopping by.  Have a great day!

A Storm is Brewing

A storm is brewing and I can feel it

I know its coming even though I can’t see it

Your intentions are clear and it’s just to cause despair

We both know deep down you don’t truly care

A storm is brewing

And as the darkness fills your head

I hope you know your actions you’ll someday dread

The games you play will catch up with you one day

There’s no excuse and you can’t call a truce

For with all of your internal turmoil

Your own plans you will foil

I refuse to return to the old days

No more manipulation and stringing’ me along

So keep your distance

I have a new found persistence

Brighter days are ahead

So it’s time for us to put this issue to bed

A storm is brewing

As you attempt to disturb my peace and joy

These lives you will not destroy like some kind of toy

I’ll secure all that is near and dear to me

And trust in the Lord to deliver me

A sweet victory.

We all face various storms in our lives and I’m here to tell you that you CAN overcome them.  Don’t let despair and fear keep you from claiming what is truly yours. Stand up for yourself and believe that YOU ARE WORTHY of HAPPINESS and PEACE OF MIND.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great night. 🙂

There’s stillness in the air

There’s stillness in the air

I try to act like I don’t care

Maybe it’s this, maybe it’s that

These are the thoughts I keep playing back

There’s a stillness in the air

No phone calls, no emails, no Whatsapp, no details!

When did this friendship train derail?

Have I been so caught up in me?

Too blinded by my life to see

You were quietly slipping away from me

There’s a stillness in the air

It’s hard pretending not to care

After all, there’s a special place in my heart for you my dear

I do hope all is well

And that life for you is pretty swell

I’m sorry I’ve been so scarce

Life on my side has been good but fierce

Thankfully I’ve made it through

And I’m writing hoping you have too.

Have a wonderful night and thanks for stopping by.

What’s Up Wednesdays #15

What’s Up?  How have you all been?  What have you been up to? Work, work, work?  Whatever you’ve done I hope you made time for YOU.  I realised over this vacation just how much of myself I have neglected so don’t do that!  Make time for you no matter how short – DO IT!  You’ll regret it if you don’t.

Back to why we’re here it’s – What’s Up Wednesdays!

What I’m eating this week:

Today, for breakfast I had two doubles with slight pepper. Yum! For lunch macaroni pie, stew goat, callaloo and lentil peas. It was delicious. 🙂 Unfortunately,  I didn’t have any salad.  I thought about you guys only after I ate each meal.  Forgive me.  When I’m hungry the last thing I’m thinking about is pictures. I’m weak in this area but I’ll work on it. 🙂  I did manage to get a picture of my Presto Chicken Pasta dinner.

What I’m reminiscing about:

How special this vacation period was for both me and my family.  I’m looking forward to creating even more memories.  The pictures above are from my stay in Miami at the Courtyard Marriott Downtown Brickell Area.

What I’m loving:

Looking forward to the future.  Although there are many uncertainties, there are also many opportunities and possibilities.  I prefer to be optimistic and positive about what’s to come. Whatever lies ahead, we’ll make the most of it!  🙂

What I’ve been up to:

I’ve completed the majority of the painting but we still have the exterior to focus on going forward.  The tiling work is finally completed hallelujah!   I still have some organizing to do but I’ve come down with the flu since I’ve been back so it has slowed me down a bit.  My focus at the moment is just on getting well.

What I’m dreading:

My kids potentially getting the flu too! I try to limit my interactions as much as I can when I’m ill but sometimes it’s just not enough especially when my kids insist on hugging and kissing me.  Unfortunately, my toddler started displaying symptoms of the flu so he maybe staying at home with me tomorrow.  We both will need the rest.

What I’m working on:

I’ve had a lot of challenges with my hosting company over the last few months such as frequent down time and other stuff so I’m working on acquiring a more dependable hosting company for my site. Will keep you guys posted on this.  Thank you for visiting my blog and bringing to my attention any difficulties you experience while visiting. I truly appreciate it. 🙂

In one word –life! So many amazing and wonderful things have happened to me in the last few months that I just have to say, THANK YOU LORD, for NEVER GIVING UP ON ME and DELIVERING ME AS PROMISED and I HAVE NO DOUBT THAT THINGS WILL CONTINUE TO GET BETTER and BETTER.

What I’m watching:

Cartoons lately and my DVD player is probably due for some light dusting at this point because of its lack of use on my part.  I do plan on reading an interesting e-book over the next few days. 🙂

Who/ What I’m listening to:

There’s Nothing Holdin’ You Back – by Shawn Mendes  and  Attention – by Charlie Puth

Don’t stand still

Life and time don’t stand still – so why should we?

Life is about transformation, growth and development.

We come into this world as babies but we don’t stay that way.   We grow and develop and with each new stage of life come new lessons, new opportunities and new milestones for us to overcome.

Along the way it is up to us, to create happiness and enjoy the good times with the time allotted to us.  We should not allow the negative experiences to steal our joy instead just note them as lessons learnt.

Remember live, love and laugh!!!!

Make today a great one. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by.

Life Is Not An Easy Road

It is easy to feel overwhelmed by our circumstances

After all we are the ones going through them

Although the challenges we face are different

We all want the same thing and that is, to overcome them

Although the challenges require different approaches

We all need strength of mind, body and spirit

To see us through them

The frustration and even the desperation that we sometimes feel

When the weight of the challenge seems more than we could bare

Refuse to be gobbled up by the despair

We must fight for our betterment

We must fight for our happiness

We must fight for our freedom

Let us choose to defy the odds and persevere

In spite of the difficulties

We must choose to push through

Life is not an easy road but this is the path we’re on

Don’t lose hope

Ask God for the strength to cope

Remember,  WE CAN DO THIS!

Our turn off is just up ahead.

Thanks for stopping by.

What’s Up Wednesdays? #3

It’s Wednesday, so you know what time it is.  It’s time for me to share what’s been going on and not been going in my life so far. Let’s get into it.

What I’m eating this week:

Today for lunch I’m keeping it simple.  I plan on having a wrapped chicken roti filled with curry potato, steamed bodi, steamed pumpkin, curry chicken and curry mango. Yes, that is simple! 🙂 I love curry dishes. I enjoy buying roti from a little shop called Hot Sauce.  Their roti is usually soft and delicious.

What I’m reminiscing about:

The days when my life was not as “complicated”.  Fewer obligations, less things to worry about.  I did not really appreciate how simple my life was back then.  I don’t regret where I am, I just never truly appreciated where I was. Do you ever reminisce about days like those?

What I’m loving:

My blog hit 100+ followers this week and Living vs Existing had 1000 likes to date.  I am very proud of this achievement.  It tells me not only that my work is appreciated but people want to stick around for more. Thank you.

 What I’ve been up to:

As I said last week, my son had some projects due this week for school so I’ve been busy helping him with that. We had to make a brochure, a booklet and do a presentation.  So used our creativity and were concise. I’m pleased to say that we’ve completed ahead of schedule. 🙂

What I’m dreading:

Not ironing anymore! I’m happy to report that I completed that task so I’m free. Yippee!!!!  Ok, well not totally free, I have to conduct some business  this week and I’m dreading the thought of having to go and stand in the long lines.  I will definitely need to turn to my phone to help pass the time. I hate long lines there are just so many other things we could be doing. 🙁

What I’m working on:

I’m hoping to get some filing done.  I want to get this post out early so I can get started on that.  Health and Wellness Friday preparation may not start before tomorrow.  I might be too tired when I’m done.

What I’m excited about:

Vacation!!!! The kids and I would be off together so it would definitely be a bitter-sweet.  I am looking forward to just relaxing. Kids on the other hand they seem allergic to sitting still. 🙂 I’m sure we will all find something we love to keep us happy.

What I’m watching/reading:

Honestly, I have not started the Harry Potter book yet but I’m planning to start it on my vacation which starts in August.   I realise now saying that out loud it probably seems very unlikely that I would start the book.  I would start it on July 1st. I’ve given myself an action date so now I must start the book. 😉  I did get Season 1 of Orphan Black and I plan on starting that tomorrow.  Will let you guys know how that goes.

 What I’m listening to:

Image: By Georges Biard

Celine Dion  –  Because You Love Me and A New Day Has Come.  Celine Dion remains one of my favourite singers.  I like to go back now and then and listen to her music and others like Luther Vandross, Tina Turner, Lionel Richie, Madonna and more.  Who were or are some of your favourite singers?

What I’m wearing:

Unfortunately, the same old, boring stuff (pants and a blouse) and this is just post #3. I wear my clothes well don’t get me wrong but I get tired of them.  Don’t you?  So what I’m going to be doing going forward is saving you guys from that because I like you too much.  So from next week I’ll post pictures of what I wish I was wearing. If I had No, let’s use more positive thinking, when I have my walk-in closet these are some of the things it would have. Sounds like fun 🙂

What I’m doing this weekend:

Housework! Cleaning lots of it. That long line I was dreading now does not seem so bad after all. 🙂

What I’m looking forward to the next month:

The closure of school at the end of the month.  I’m looking forward to the break in driving to and from everyday, the ironing of school uniforms and all the  homework. When schools are closed here in Trinidad the traffic seems not as intense and I look forward to that.

What else is new?

I have some ideas for a new post I would like to introduce called “Come Travel With Me”.  I would tell you more but I don’t want to spoil the surprise so look out for that on Monday 26th.

That’s all for now guys.  Make today a great one!

Thanks for stopping by.
