Weather Forecast

Today’s weather forecast is cloudy with a chance of thunder storm and scattered showers.

If life was so simple to predict.  It would probably read, “Today would be full of fun and laughter with some possibility of foolishness or drama but keep your head up and push through it anyway. ”

At the end of the day, even after the all of the rainfall the sky eventually clears and out comes the sun.  When we’re really lucky we even see a rainbow or two.  🙂

Never let the scattered showers keep you down!  The sun will come out so you better position yourself to see and enjoy it.  Have a wonderful weekend.

Music Reflection Mondays #10

Welcome back to Music Reflection Mondays!   I hope you all had a good day and wonderful weekend.

Tonight, I want to to look at music through poetry. Hope you like it.

Music is the sound, rhythm and beat behind the words or musical notes that encourage you to move your feet

Music brings the notes and words to life

Inspiring you to forget your troubles and just enjoy your life

Music ignites within us that sense of joy, happiness and pleasure that just reading the same words alone may not muster

Music can help soothe our minds likewise it can motivate us to get up and shake our behinds 🙂

Music is that special gift from God

Given to us to help make life more enjoyable

Although we may sometimes take it for granted

The joy it can bring is almost everlasting

So as you listen to the beat and casually tap and move your feet

Remember, music is really a special treat!

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a wonderful night!

Music Reflection Mondays

Come Travel With Me was a new segment I wanted to introduce to you guys today but I was inspired to do something else.  I call it, Music Reflection Mondays since music was the inspiration for this piece.

In some of my less than terrific moments in my life there were various singers who through their music helped me cope during some difficult times, gave me clarity, joy, peace of mind even helped me release some of the anger I felt in a healthy way. They made me feel better.

Natalie Imbruglia

Natalie Imbruglia is one of those singers. She was there at a time in my early teenage years when I was very angry and depressed.  Her song Torn touched me in a special way.  I felt as though she had heard me and was singing exactly how I felt. I played and replayed that song over and over until I got what I needed from it.  What did I get?

I eventually realized that I did not want to be “torn” anymore I wanted to be whole and happy. I chose to forgive because it was the only way I could move forward.  It took tremendous courage and strength but I did it.

From my teenage years to present, I can honestly say that the healing power of music to the mind is powerful and should definitely be explored. Of course, I’m just suggesting it as a form of therapy, to relax and unwind and clear your mind.  It is definitely a pick me upper and can be a stress reliever if you choose the right type of music and artiste that appeals to you.

Music Reflection Mondays is not going to be about me bringing my personal preferences to you but rather about us sharing with each other – music and artistes that we love.  I am open to discovering someone new.  Are you? 🙂

There are so many to choose from.  We should never limit ourselves to just one thing. It hinders our growth and limits our learning.  My taste in music is wide from different periods both past and present. I’ve found that variety is good and it works for me.

Music preferences vary and that’s cool that we all have different taste. Thankfully, because of that we get amazing artistes creating music and songs that will be forever etched in our minds and hearts.

I think that no matter our preferences we all can agree that music has the power to provoke feelings and emotions some good and some bad.   How we choose to use this often overlooked medium can make a big difference in how we feel, heal and cope with various things in our lives.

John Legend

John Legend is amazing!  Let’s just say, that when he came out with his music it was perfect timing for all I was dealing with in my life. He has been there for me both in the good and bad times.   I had his CD in my car for months just playing it over and over. The kids even learned a few songs. 🙂 I have more than one favourite when it comes to him but some that stand out are All of me, Stay with You, Used to Love You, Love Me Now and When It’s Cold Outside.  Do you have any favourites from him?

From oldies to present day the appeal of music remains.   There are some singers and bands that have songs that still make you tear up, dance your socks off when you hear it or just take you back to a different time in your life almost like a time machine. Do you agree?

Do you have a singer, musician or band that provided you with comfort when you needed it most?  Please share. 🙂

Who are your three all-time favourites singers or groups?

I look forward to seeing some of your favourites below.  Have a great week. See you guys next week as we continue Music Reflection Mondays.

Hope you enjoyed it.

Let’s clear the air

Daily Prompt: Trace

Gone without a trace

It hurts how much I miss your face

You’ve left your mark on my heart

Although we are apart

I can still feel the spark

………………………………………………………..

Your warm embrace

Your gentle touch and

Sense of humour

I miss so much

…………………………………………………………

Even with all the joy and the laughter

I can’t pretend your silence doesn’t matter

The words you don’t say

Won’t make the hurts go away

……………………………………………………………

You are very dear to me

I hope deep down this truth you’ll see

That the walls you’ve built

I can’t even cross them with a stilt

………………………………………………………..

I have no intention to scream and shout

Because even through your sorrow

I cannot blindly follow

For my heart, I did not borrow.

Thanks for stopping by.

Life Challenges

Daily Post Prompt: Catapult

Sometimes in life when the challenges come

We miss the lessons because we feel overrun

What is the point of all this?

Shouldn’t this life be full of bliss?

What lesson exactly, did I miss?

What’s the point of some of this misery and pain?

Are they meant to drive me insane?

Just when we feel like giving up

Just when we wished the world would stop

Just when we’ve said, “enough is enough”

In come our blessings to catapult us up

Up, above and out of the strife

Up and into a better life

All we had to do was endure

All we had to do was explore

Digging deep into our core

Soon to discover we are so much more.

A mother’s love

Mother’s Day Greetings to all the mothers out there!  Know that we are special beings and we are critical to the success of the future. I want to wish you all a wonderful day!  🙂

I prepared this poem weeks ago and saved it just for today.  I am dedicating this poem to my sons Marc (11) and Luke (3) without whom I would not be celebrating this day.

Life is short and we don’t know how long we have.   I know they both know I love them very much.  My prayer and wish today is that the memories we make along the way will always make them know and feel the love I will always have for them.

I sat them both down and read it to them before publishing and they enjoyed it.   This brings joy to my heart. 🙂

You came into my life as two total strangers

Yet you are closer to me than any other family member

You are my sons and I will always be your mother

………………………………………………………………………………

Two precious gifts sent from above

Unique, caring and sweet

With personalities that can’t be beat

You know how to get me off my feet 🙂

…………………………………………………………….

Your presence in my life has made me a better person

With drive and never-ending reasons

To always do my best, no matter the season

………………………………………………………………………….

So as you one day grow into men

Remember, real power comes from within

With God on your side you can win

……………………………………………………………………………..

No matter where we are

Near or far, happy or sad

Do good in all that you do

And may God always bless and watch over you

Know that YOU are LOVED

Because you are SPECIAL GIFTS from above.

Love,

Mummy
