Here is my list of Top 30 Life Lessons coupled with some Words of Wisdom that I’ve acquired along the way.

1. Trust your instincts.

2. Don’t believe everything you read or hear.

3. Be proactive rather than reactive.

4. Forgiveness is the start towards living a happier more productive life.

5. Procrastination is a proven method for going nowhere.  Keep doing it long enough and you may even forget where you were headed.

6. Relationships may come and go but we should never lose ourselves in the process.

7. Being healthy is not necessarily being a perfect size but rather the lifestyle choices we make to live better.

8. Being happy starts with us. We have more power and control over our own happiness than we think.  Starting with the negative people in our lives.

9. Our past experiences have helped to shape who we are today but they don’t define who we are.

10. “Family” is more than just blood relative.  It is a ‘call to action’ that few non-relatives would have gained the right to be called.

11. Not all parents are parents and not all parents can parent.  In some instances, their roles were simply to get us here.

12. Self-love is called self-love for reason, it must come from within.  No amount of feedback from those around you could make you feel for yourself what you don’t believe about  yourself.

13. We believe what we hear, so we need to be mindful of the information we feed and allow to be fed to us.

14. “Mistakes” are really lessons in disguise. So open your eyes and take from them the lessons being communicated to you.

15. The true beauty of something is not always found on the surface.  Sometimes we just have to dig deeper.  If you trust only your eyes to find beauty in life, there may be many beautiful people who you miss the opportunity to meet and know.

16. Love can be expressed through words and actions that bring joy and a smile to your life and heart.  Love never physically, emotionally or intentionally hurts you.

17. Being silent  and not communicating when we’re hurting inside emotionally doesn’t help ease the pain we feel. If anything, it temporarily masks it.

18. Life can be complicated at times but it can also be really simple.  It’s all about the lens from which we choose to view it from.

19. Prayer coupled with faith and belief is the most powerful, inexpensive weapon you can own.

20. We’re all imperfect creatures and that is what makes each of us special.  As a result, the only real expectation we need to live up to is our own no one else’s.

21. The success or failure of a relationship lies in the willingness of both parties to work through the issues to move forward.

22. Music is more than a cool way to pass the time.  It is a great stress reliever and can help improve your mood.

23. Children are the future and if we want a brighter future we need to be mindful of the influence our behaviour and words have on their lives.

24. The earth is our home and if we don’t take better care of it how can we expect it to take care of us.

25. The cloud that seems to be hovering over your life is a passing cloud.  The sun will come out and you will see your way again. It happened for me and it can happen for you. 🙂

26. Laugh as much as you can. Don’t take everything so serious all of the time.

27. We can’t control everything but we can control some things. Do what you can, where you can as best as you can.

28. It’s not what we say but how we say it so think before you speak.

29. One of the most precious gifts we have in this life is time, use it wisely.

30. Lastly, we don’t have to be great at everything.

Feel free to add a life lesson below in comments. Thank you for stopping by.

Have a wonderful night.

One Day At A Time

Pleasant Good Morning to You All,

May this morning as the warm rays of the sun gently cover your body find each of  you full of life with a sense of purpose and peace as you go through your day.  May your disruptions be few and may you always have clarity of mind and spirit to overcome any obstacle or challenge that may come your way.  In Jesus name, Amen!

One day at a time is how we learn and grow.  This is true for all of us.  From birth straight through to our adult lives and this is not limited only to our ability to move but our intellect and spirituality as well.

The thing is, no one person has ALL of the answers and those persons who have words of wisdom to share with others would have developed them from over years of learning from their own life lessons.

Each day will bring with it opportunities for growth, understanding and challenges which ultimately add up to lessons which help shape and develop us as individuals. Don’t beat yourself up if you don’t get it right the first time or the even the second time.

When the situation seems bigger than YOURSELF and you can’t seem to find a way to overcome it. Pray for clarity of mind,  ask for God’s guidance and he WILL provide the answer.  You just have to listen not only with your ears but your eyes, heart and spirit.  Worrying and stressing about it will only cloud and block your ability to see and receive the very answers you are searching for.

So dear friends remember, take it one day at a time. Embrace each day as a potential lesson to be learnt. Be sure to apply a positive attitude as this would help to make your  journey much easier as you learn and grow along the way.

Make today a wonderful one.  Thank you for stopping by.

Fresh Perspective

A ‘fresh’ perspective is often different from our own perspective and beliefs.

It can feel like the fresh morning breeze against our skin – refreshing and soothing.  Likewise,  it can hit us like a ton of bricks shattering everything we’ve ever been taught or believed.

A ‘fresh’ perspective  allows us to see the world and situations in a new way outside of the lens we would typically use.  It encourages us to open our minds as our eyes and ears open up to more than just what we’ve known, seen and heard over the years.

It is not necessarily wrong or right just a different way of seeing and doing things.  Should you choose to embrace and adapt it ?  That is solely up to YOU.  I for one, don’t run off accepting and internalizing everything I see and hear and neither should you.

Ask yourself? What can I learn from this?  Can this improve my life or  my way of thinking in a positive way?  How does this make me feel?

We don’t have ALL the answers and the good news is we DON’T have to.  For there are lessons to be learnt both from our good and not so good experiences.

Make today a great one! Thanks for stopping by.

Tragedy

In life there are going to be many things we don’t understand or like.

These events force us to ask questions like, what is the purpose of all this pain, suffering, and  loss?

And of course, the big question of, why me?

Every setback, every obstacle, every loss and every encounter we’ve had was for a reason. Yes, it hurts and yes, some of it even gets us angry just thinking about it.

Believe it or not those events are meant to get us to a specific chapter in our lives not only for ourselves but often to someone else. Our lives are much bigger than ourselves.

Understanding and accepting that, is what gives us the clarity and ability to heal and move pass those trials into brighter and better days.

Tragedy can be tragic but out of it can come strength, healing, wisdom, purpose and growth.

You are NOT alone.  We ALL have our own internal wars going on inside.  Don’t be fooled by what you see on the outside.

We need to support and encourage each other to PUSH through the pain until we get to a point where we’re in control of our feelings and it is not the other way around.

We’re ALL in the process of finding our true ourselves but some of us don’t know it.  We have to learn to forgive and allow ourselves to emerge out of our PAST into our FUTURE.

Have a wonderful night. Thank you for stopping by.

Awakening and Growth (originally posted 23.09.2017)

You used your words to break me down

And that turned my smile upside down

Blinded by my love for you

I forgot I had to love myself too

I allowed my ‘true’ self to be locked away

Not believing deep down I had some say

Or that one day I would find my way

My way back to my true self,

That special me I hid on a shelf

Now that my blood no longer runs cold

And a new purpose fills my soul

Not even you could keep me back in this world

As I turn my lessons into ink

I look to the future and can’t help but think

Thanks to you I have created a new path

Thanks to you I have made a fresh start

Thanks to you I have seen the light

And I’m happy to report it is beautiful and bright.

Thanks so much for stopping by.   Have a wonderful weekend!

Don’t stand still

Life and time don’t stand still – so why should we?

Life is about transformation, growth and development.

We come into this world as babies but we don’t stay that way.   We grow and develop and with each new stage of life come new lessons, new opportunities and new milestones for us to overcome.

Along the way it is up to us, to create happiness and enjoy the good times with the time allotted to us.  We should not allow the negative experiences to steal our joy instead just note them as lessons learnt.

Remember live, love and laugh!!!!

Make today a great one. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by.

Top 20 Life Lessons

I’m back! My short but sweet stay in Miami was great.  I stayed at the Courtyard Marriott Downtown Brickell area.  The hotel, my room, the staff and the food were all great.  The shopping was also good.  It was just what the doctor ordered. 🙂

It feels so good to be back home with my family and blogging again.  I’ve missed you guys.

My birthday celebrations could not have been better.  I spent it with the people I love and I know love me so much.   I am now 37.  🙂  I am truly blessed and grateful to have made it this far.

I pray and trust that the good Lord will continue to bless me with good health, strength, wisdom, understanding, patience, resources and the people needed to do all he requires me to do.

There is no question that I have a supportive and loving group of people and I thank God for them everyday.  May they also be blessed with all they need.    Over the years I’ve learnt so much.

Here are my Top 20 lessons:

  1. Trust and believe in God with all your heart (this has worked for me and it can work for you too)
  2. Value the people who value you
  3. Appreciate the people who appreciate you

  5. Say how you feel
  6. Show your love for others
  7. Show love to yourself
  8. Believe in yourself
  9. Practice patience (easier said than done sometimes but it is necessary)
  10. Don’t let the fear of failing keep you from trying
  11. People will disappoint us from time to time but we should not give up on everyone as a result
  12. Think things through.
  13. Avoid doing and saying things out of anger and haste
  14. It’s important to review our relationships and the impact they have on us be it positive or negative and do something about it.
  15. Don’t stress the small stuff.
  16. Don’t create unrealistic expectations for yourself or others.
  17. We all make mistakes and fall short sometimes.  Learn from the experiences and move forward.
  18. Respect, trust and integrity are priceless.
  19. Be yourself, pretending to be someone you’re not will only hinder your growth and true happiness.
  20. Happiness starts with you – your thoughts, your attitude and your words.

Once we have life we have an opportunity to learn each day.  Not all lessons can be learnt from a textbook.  Open your eyes, minds, ears and hearts and you’ll see what I mean. 🙂
