Your situation is not your destiny but rather your testimony

God blessings to each of you. Thank you Lord for opening our eyes this morning.  Thank you Lord for the sweet sound of birds chirping in the background and not gunfire.  Thank you Lord for the brilliance of the sunlight in the distance and not the smoke of a bomb blast covering the sky. Thank you Lord for Your favour, mercy and grace in my life. Thank you Lord that ALL who read this post would be blessed in some way. In Jesus name, amen!

We all have moments in our lives when we feel overwhelmed, depressed, frustrated or alone in whatever problem or challenge we may be facing known or unknown to our friends and family.  In moments such as these we need to remind ourselves of these few words, “Christ is in me. I am enough.”

These words have greatly blessed my life. These words imprinted on my mind and heart from a sermon Steven Furtick was giving some time last month.  It has just stayed with and in me ever since. 🙂

My words to you:

Be encouraged that your situation is not your destiny but rather your testimony!

God is in control even though the storm you’re going through feels rough.  Remember, God is the creator of ALL things.  It is the enemy’s desire to see the storm  destroy you but God will turn it around for your good. He won’t let it destroy you because it will be used to strengthen you and help you grow.

God is in control even though the enemy may have whispered in your ear, “give up, you’re never going to make it.”  The enemy is a liar.  It is not over, until God says it is. Seek God, place your trust in Him and He WILL deliver you!

If you are going to give life to something and magnify anything – let God be that thing you exalt and not your problems or your fears. When you do He WILL fight your battles.

Start thanking God for the victory over your problems. Thank God for the opportunities He is bringing your way.  Thank God for the healing He has sent to your body.  Thank God for not giving up on you. 2018 can be your year of breakthroughs if you will put your faith not in what you see with your eyes but in the God that has brought you this far and can do so much more. I don’t know about you but I declare and decree that 2018 will be better than 2017.

I pray O Lord that this post has encouraged someone today and that it will have blessed them in some way.  God is the answer so stop worrying about the giants in your life.  Be like David and call upon God to help you bring that ‘Goliath’ in your life down.

Thank you for making this blog one of your stops on this journey called life.

Have a great weekend and remember God loves you more than you know. 🙂

FAITH is like a muscle

Thank you Lord for this new day.  Thank you for another opportunity to share, encourage and enlighten someone today.  Help me deliver this message in a way that reaches the person or people You need it to reach.  May it bless me and ALL who read it. In Jesus name, amen!

What is faith?

Faith is a gift from God.  It is that unseen feeling that can be classified as trust or confidence that allows the impossible to become possible.  Faith forces you to look beyond your circumstance and into your possibility.

clouds-2709662__340

Is faith just for a chosen few?

No! In the Bible (Romans 12:3) to be exact, it is written, “God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.”    You see, according to the Word, we’ve ALL been given faith as a gift from God.  However, although we all have faith not all of us choose to activate it.

How do we activate and strengthen our faith?

Here are some tips on how to activate and strengthen our faith:

1. We activate our faith through prayer.

2. We activate our faith by reading the Word daily.

3. We activate our faith through worship.

4. We activate our faith when we refuse to be guided and locked into our own understanding.

5. We activate our faith by looking not at our circumstances but to God.

6. We activate our faith by speaking positivity into a negative situation.

6. We activate our faith when we let go of our fears.

7. We activate our faith when we place our trust in God.

8. We activate our faith when we don’t limit or base our victory solely on what our eyes can see or what we hear with our ears.

9. We activate our faith by believing in God’s ability and His word with all our hearts and minds that He can do ALL for us that we cannot do for ourselves.

10. We activate our faith by starving our doubts.

11. We activate our faith by not allowing negative people to influence our thoughts.

12. We activate our faith by just believing.

I heard a pastor on television this morning say, “Faith is like a muscle.”  I agree totally with him on that statement, the reality is, if we don’t use or strengthen our muscles they won’t work the way they’re supposed to.  It’s the same principle with our faith, if we don’t exercise it or use it we won’t strengthen it or develop it.

In the bible, it is also written, Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 12:20) NKJV

If we desire great faith and things in our lives to change or improve then we need to activate our faith, develop our faith and sustain our faith.   We have to do the work!  We have to believe and trust God like never before.  We have to read the Word and ask God to guide us and strengthen us.

As you go out into the world, what are you going to challenging your faith for today?  Healing for your mind, body and spirit; restoration of your finances; healing for a loved one; promotion on the job; maybe it’s employment; or a home. Whatever the desire is on your heart use your faith to bring it to reality.

Activate your faith muscle, feed it and nurture it and it will take you to a whole other level in your life. 🙂

Thank you for making this blog one of your stops on this journey called life.

Be blessed.

Because of Who HE is

My Prayer:

May this beautiful Wednesday find you covered by the mercy and grace of God. May your day be filled with blessings and favour everywhere you go.  Thank you heavenly Father for all You have done for us yesterday, all You will do for us today and tomorrow.

May Your praise forever be in our mouths. As we seek You, let us discover Your love, wisdom, understanding, strength, healing and favour in our lives. May Your protection covers us and our families. May my brothers and sisters in Christ who need You find You. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen!

Here are some questions I’ve found myself and others asking:

  1. Why am I so happy?
  2. Why am I so grateful?
  3. Why am I so thankful?
  4. Why am I no longer stuck in my old ways?
  5. Why am I so different?
  6. Why is healing taking place in my mind, body and spirit?
  7. Why is there a sense of peace within me that was not there before?
  8. Why does worry and fear no longer hold me prisoner?
  9. Why am I no longer lost?
  10. Why do I cry tears of joy?

Here are my answers:

  1. It is because of who Jesus Christ is!
  2. It is because He FIRST loved me.
  3. It is because God has been, continues to be and will remain GOOD to me.
  4. It is because of His MERCY and AMAZING GRACE.
  5. It is because I now know WHO I AM in His eyes.
  6. It is because I SEE myself the way He sees me.
  7. It is because His Word has given LIFE, MEANING and PURPOSE to my spirit and soul.
  8. It is because His love is everlasting.
  9. It is because I believe Jesus Christ is MY Lord and Saviour.
  10. It is because this MIGHTY being chose to love me.
  11. It is because He truly cares about me and I know it.
  12. It is because it pleases Him when I try to BE better than I was.
  13. It is because He healed my brokenness.
  14. It is because He has given me another chance to DO and BE better.
  15. It is because walking in Him and with Him brings life and not death.
  16. It is because pleasing Him is more rewarding and beneficial that trying to please man.
  17. It is because He is the shining light in the midst of the darkness.
  18. It is because He restored what was lost and freed me from my prison.
  19. It is because He and I are now one.
  20. It is because He is Lord, Our God and I love Him!

Am I worthy of His blessing, love, mercy, favour and grace? No, but He loves and embraces me anyway.  That is good enough for me!

It is His undying love for me that has brought me home to Him.  It is His love and care for me that has me here today. It is because of His love for me that I now want to love and embrace ALL He has in store for me. It is His love for me that causes me to WORSHIP and PRAISE His name the way I do now. For it is because of His love that WE all can now have ETERNAL life, if we want it.

Thank you Jesus for being who YOU are!  I love, adore and worship You without fear.

Lord, You have moved heaven and earth to get me to this place and I will forever be grateful.  Your sacrifice on Calvary Hill would leave me forever singing Your praise.

Dear friends, this is why I now write the way I do now.  It is this understanding and knowledge that has ignited within me a need to do more with my life, my family and my blog.  The great thing is, God truly loves ALL of us.  He calls out to US everyday but unfortunately, not all of us heed His call.

I have chosen to heed the voice of my Father and came home to Him. I magnify Him because He is WORTHY.  Without His grace and mercy I would not be here.

Seek Him and embrace Him the way He has always embraced you.

As you go forth today, remember ALL He has done for you and sincerely thank Him.

Music Reflection Mondays: First

Pleasant Monday Greetings to each of you! I hope that your weekend was all you needed it to be.  If not, still be grateful for what you were able to achieve. By God’s grace we still have today and God willing tomorrow. Don’t stay hung up on what did not go right. Focus on how much better you can try to make it tomorrow. 🙂

Today, I want to share with you one of the songs I love from the very talented singer and song-writer Lauren Daigle. Her music falls under the genre Contemporary Christian music.

Although I’ve only recently discovered her it is clear to me that I have been missing out.  I have just been enjoying her music, the lyrics of her songs and her voice.  The song I’m introducing to you guys today is called “First“.   I find it to be a very powerful and beautiful song. Listen to it.

This song reminds me of how important it is to seek a real relationship with God and not just turn to Him with my lists of wants and needs.

Here are some of the lyrics below.

“Before I bring my need, I will bring my heart

Before I lift my cares, I will lift my arms

I wanna know you, I wanna find you

In every season, In every moment

Before I bring my need, I will bring my heart

And seek you – FIRST”

Should you decide to listen it. I pray that the words resonate deep within you leaving you wiser than you were before. Bringing you better understanding in how we should approach God.

Seek His guidance in all you do. As we all go forth into this new week may God’s protection, favour and wisdom light the way before us. In Jesus name, Amen!

Have a blessed week.

Run Your Own Race

start-1590051__340

Life is often viewed as a race and I think that’s because we’re always looking at how well those around us seem to be doing when compared to us.  When we do this, we often neglect the beauty and the blessings going on within our own lives that we should be grateful for.

The truth is, how well we do in our own race called life is dependent on how well we handle the challenges and the lessons along the way.

Now ask yourself this:

  • How high am I prepared to jump over my hurdles to get to my destination?
  • How badly do I want to see my dreams come through?
  • What or who am I prepared to let go of to move forward into my destiny?

Based on your answers to those questions.  Here are some things we would need to do to start running our own races more effectively.

1. Seek to align our lives with the word of God. When we seek God’s word and try to apply it to our lives amazing things happen. We experience improvement in our relationships, business, workplace, our kids, our health, our thinking and behaviour as well as our finances.  God’s word provides guidance, understanding, breakthroughs, wisdom and peace.

2. Take control of our thoughts. We can do this if we stop worrying about the race ahead of us and just tackle it one hurdle at a time.

3. Focus on the race in front of you. Stop focusing on the race the other runners are running.

4. Magnify our strengths and work on our weaknesses. Stop comparing our race to the race other runners are in.

5. Stop complaining. Recognize that each race is different just as each runner is different. Each runner and race has its own challenges so count your blessings.

6. Recognize and understand that our success or failure in our race is based on the reconditioning of our mind. We have to set a right attitude, build and use a vocabulary that is full of positivity.

7. Recognize that what we choose to put our trust and faith in affects our outcome.

8. Choose to see the beauty and opportunity in it rather than the obstacles.

9. Learn to ignore and distance ourselves from negative people. Don’t allow their noise to distract or discourage you.

10. Lastly, recognizing that falling from time to time is part of the process and is therefore normal.  Remember, the real winners at the end of the race would be those individuals who got back up and kept running till the very end.

No matter what your race track in life looks like, trust that God is in control. Understand that all you need to do is tap into His strength and not your own to finish the race.

Like a race car on the track when it stops for the pit crew to make sure everything is in order.   We have a pit crew there for us also. God the Father, Jesus Christ His Son and the Holy Spirit. We’re not alone in our race although it may sometimes feel like that.

God is always there cheering us on every step of the way. We have to merely ask for His intervention and hand control of the steering wheel of our lives over to Him.

We want God to just get us to the finish line without having to stop, learn, fight or overcome anything.  God loves us far too much for that.  He wants us to grow and overcome our weaknesses.  He will hold our hand while we learn, lift us up when we fall but we have to still do some of the work.

So run your own race and don’t focus on anyone else. Trust your heavenly pit crew to see you through.  God wants to help us in every area of our lives but we have to ask for His help which is the easy part.   The challenge comes when we have to let go of the steering wheel of our lives and sit back.  When we learn this, something amazing happens – we see life in a whole new way.

So trust Him to see you through to the end. As you run your race and I run mine let us make every effort to learn, grow and enjoy the good that is in our lives. When the challenges come just say,” Lord, I know you got this!

Thank you for making this blog one of your stops in this journey called life.

Have an amazing weekend! 🙂

Music Reflection Mondays: Soul Piercing

Welcome back to Music Reflection Mondays!

Today, let’s look at what I like to call “Soul Piercing Music”.

What do I consider “soul piercing” music?

  • It’s the kind of music that touches you so deep inside that you find yourself crying.
  • It’s the kind of music that can get you so emotional you’re on the verge of tears.
  • The kind of music that compels you to take a good look at your life unearthing feelings you didn’t even realize you had.
  • The kind of music that leaves you wondering, ‘What was I crying about anyway?’
  • This kind of music can touch you in a way like no other. It has the power to heal a broken heart.
  • It makes you think.
  • It makes you feel.

Here are some of my favourites.

Let Your Power Fall – Deon Kipping

I Am Yours – Lauren Daigle

Hosanna – Hillsong

The Prayer – Donnie Mc Clurkin & Yolanda Adams

First – Lauren Daigle

I Give You My Heart – Hillsong featuring Holly Dawson

Broken Vessels – Hillsong United

Do you have any songs that touch you in that way?  Please feel free to share some with me below. I would love to add more to my playlist.

Never underestimate the power of music in your life.  The right lyrics, listened to at the right time, in the right place, among the right people could change your life.

So make an effort to listen to the words and allow them to flow in and through you and tell me if they don’t make you think about your life and how blessed and fortunate you really are.

Every day has the potential to be as good as YOU want it to be.  It could be as simple as creating a music playlist to start your day or end your day; to changing or adding to your current music selection. 🙂  Whatever you decide, don’t be afraid to try something new! Get something that makes you smile, sing, dance and get happy. 🙂

Be blessed.

Health and Wellness Fridays: Slow Down Before You Go Down

running-2353880_960_720

Hello and welcome back to Health and Wellness Fridays!

Fridays, for many of us, signify the end of the work week and we just want to kick back and relax. This is normal, healthy and understandable. The hustle and bustle of everyday life can often leave us feeling exhausted and stressed out. However, even after working hard some of us have difficulty making and taking time for ourselves to truly rest and recuperate.

I will admit I’ve been guilt of this in the past. How many of us look forward to the weekend but then have anxiety step in because of all the thoughts in our minds of what must be done and the limited time we have to complete them? This often causes a love/ hate relationship with the weekend for many.

So we take a deep breath and try to enjoy whatever little ‘me’ time we can get at the end of it all. Unfortunately, sleep time does not count but it is essential for the body and mind. Before we know it, the weekend is over and it is back to work. We start our new work week not completely rested but push through anyway because we have to.

Eventually, I came to this realization, ‘all of this constant running around week after week is physically and mentally draining you. This current pattern leaves you with just enough time for the basics of life – to eat and sleep. Where is the joy and the fun? You better slow down, before you go down.’

Talk about a revelation. I had to sit down and really review my life especially the recreational aspect of it. Why? It was non-existent.

This new pattern of behaviour is what my self-talk eventually resulted it.

  1. Starting my day with prayer and worship music. I have found that talking to God first thing each morning helps sets the tone for the day. I feel at peace and I’m more relaxed.
  2. Making sure to start my day with a healthy and nourishing breakfast. I found that skipping meals not only affected my mood but also caused me to make unwise food decisions later in the day that only made me feeling guilty afterward.
  3. Make doing something or going somewhere fun a mandatory experience on the weekend. Indoors or outdoors it does not matter once I’m enjoying it and have the kids participate.
  4. I started doing more of my chores like (washing and cleaning) during the week and this freed up my weekend and my mind from those chores.
  5. Creating a period within the day where I have at least 45 minutes to an hour for myself where I do nothing but relax. Sit down and read a chapter or two, catch up my reading of blogs or listening to music. Whatever you decide but no work and no stressing out. If you have kids make sure they are properly supervised first and just take this time to clear your mind and rest your body.

This new routine I have implemented in my life has honestly given me a sense of clarity, joy and peace that my life was lacking before. If you are, like I used to be, then I suggest you slow down before you go down.

You have to create the time for YOU. That is the only way you would be able to truly relax and unwind. I didn’t know what to do with my time to tell you the truth when I got it but I have learnt to create moments of happiness whenever and wherever I can.

I look forward to the weekend now because I have a different attitude, approach and perspective. I’m no longer letting my weekend dictate what I do but instead I determine where and what I would like to do with my time and schedule life around that. That way I’m not just existing within my life but actually living it.

However, you choose to spend your weekends try to ensure you get time to enjoy what YOU love.
