Let Us Just Be

Let’s strive to be WHO we are meant to be and make no apologies for it.

Let’s embrace the possibilities and disregard the negativity that may try to discourage us.

Let’s explore the unknown and give life to the notion that we might be the missing link to so many problems and issues in the world but we have to be willing and bold.

Let’s be grateful for our blessings for without them we could not have made it this far.

Let’s seize opportunities for they are stepping stones to new chapters in our lives.

Let us help when and wherever we can because it is the right thing to do even though we may not always get a “Thank You”.

Let us empower ourselves to be the heroes the world so desperately needs us to be – as you do you and I do me.

Let us support and encourage each other because we ALL can use a cheerleader from time to time. 🙂  Pushing us along the way to persevere another day.

Let us remember to live, love, laugh and forgive along the way. These simple acts may help extend our lives each day.

Let us never forget to pray as this for me is the only way, to start and end each day.

Lastly, let us just be and as you work on YOU and I work on ME together we’ll be growing independently. Learning as we go along the way to appreciate and value every single day.

Thank you for making this blog one of your stops in this journey called life.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Health and Wellness Fridays- Laughter

Pretty Woman, Happy, Young, Female

Friday Greetings to each of you!!  🙂 Although it has been raining all day and most of the night I am happy to report that I’ve been blessed with another day and opportunity to share this earth with each of you.  I hope you’re all having a wonderful day so far and that you choose to make the most of it regardless of the obstacles that try to throw you off your game.

Today we’re going to be taking a closer look at the benefits of laughter to our overall health and well-being.

Laughter, Latino, Autumn, Leaves

Does laughter have any affect on our well-being?  Let’s find out.

Some benefits of laughter include:

  1. Reduce stress hormones
  2. Boosts immune system
  3. Regulates blood pressure
  4. Increases blood oxygenation
  5. Enhance your mood making you feel better
  6. Releases endorphins – the body’s natural painkillers
  7. Help burn additional calories
  8. Help you cope better during challenging times
  9. Helps improve your sense of humour
  10. Works out the stomach muscles
  11. Improves heart health
  12. Improves memory
  13. May even fight off cancer
  14. Promote creativity
  15. Laughter increases connection with others

Some of us often think that if we or others are laughing then we or they are not taking life seriously.  The truth is, there will always be something going on in the world that we don’t like or agree it.  However, there will also have good things and people as well that should be celebrated and enjoyed and not overshadowed by all of the negativity that can suck the joy right out of us.

Just take a look at the possible benefits to be gained from such a simple act as laughing.    No sign up fee.  No membership fee. Laughter is the easiest and most affordable element we can add to our everyday lives to make even subtle improvements to our overall health and well-being.

Now back to my earlier question, “Does laughter have any affect on our well-being?”  Yes, I believe it does.  When I look around it is almost impossible to miss the visible differences between people who laugh nearly everyday and those who are barely able to crack a smile.  The major differences would include: their uptight physically and in their interactions with others; their bodies seem tense all of the time and some may even be labelled as unapproachable.

Frustrated, Annoyed, Person, Woman

I’m almost certain that if we took a closer look at their blood pressure and stress levels their scores would probably be higher as well and they may not even know it.  Most of us don’t realize until it is too late and we’re forced to go the doctor or the hospital.  Don’t allow the pressures of life to stifle your laughter.

Okay, so we’ve seen the benefits of laughter but there can be some side effects also.  Let’s take a look.

  1. Sore muscles. Have you ever laughed so hard and long that your muscles hurt? The joke or moment was hilarious but your poor muscles paid the price after. That was actually your muscles getting a workout.  The pain is short-lived but the funny memory would live on.   🙂
  2. Persons in recovery from abdominal surgery in particular as well as any other area of the body that may be impacted by laughter should be cautious and if possible try avoiding laughter as this could be painful at least until after they have fully recovered.

At the end of the day, life has its complications from time to time but laughter is not one of them.  Smile, laugh and live each day enjoying every moment where and whenever you can.

Girl, Hat, Happy, Laughing, Face, Cute

Have a blessed day and a wonderful weekend!  Don’t forget to laugh. 🙂

What’s Up Wednesday #7

Wednesday greetings to everyone! How was your day? Today was mostly  overcast and rainy here in sweet Trinidad and Tobago.  Hope the weather wherever you are was better.

Let me share what I’ve been up to these days. 🙂

What I’m eating this week:

I had a late lunch today.  We ordered BBQ wings, Cheesy Bread sticks, Tuscani Chicken Alfredo Pasta and a large Santa Fe (Beef and Pineapple) Pizza from Pizza Hut.  I enjoyed each bite and you can believe that I had a little of everything on my plate. 🙂

What I’m reminiscing about:

The days when I did not or rather could not drive myself around.  It was the job of the taxi or maxi driver to get me where I needed to be.  It could be very tiring having to drive yourself and everyone else where they need to be all the time.  I am however, very grateful that I do have my car because it allows me the freedom to go where I want, when I want.  🙂

What I’m loving:

This week in Summer camp we made some really neat craft items with  the kids. We made bookmarks and paper flowers.  We even decorated a glass and re-purposed it as a vase and even made a paper bag hanging decoration.

What I’ve been up to:

Bookmarks                                    Decorated glasses with paper flowers

Before/ After Plain White Paper Bag Hanging Decorations

I’ve been busy assisting with craft activities.  All of these ideas were inspired by some amazing YouTubers but we have added a few elements of our own.  I really liked how they all turned out.    We have two more weeks of camp and both the kids and I look forward to doing more activities. 🙂

What I’m dreading:

Errands, errands and more errands.  The next few weeks aside from making craft with the kids and entertaining them every so often I have my own personal checklist of things to get done over the next few weeks.

Right now, I’m trying not to look directly at it – because it is so intimidating at the moment.  That by the way, is not working because my brain is still trying to play out how best to get it all done. 🙁

What I’m working on:

Getting my finances in order!  Have you ever been so comfortable with everything that you just take it for granted that things would always be like that.  I did and I paid big time. Thankfully, after what seemed like forever things are starting to look up. 🙂

What I’m excited about:

I’m excited about getting to relax, enjoy a change of scenery and eat delicious food (not prepared by me). 🙂

What I’m watching:

It’s more like what have I watched recently.  I’ve recently seen Transformers – The Last Knight (interesting story line), Cars 3, The Mummy with Tom Cruise (definitely different from all the other Mummy movies done before) and Despicable Me 3 (interesting spin).

Overall, I enjoyed all four movies. If you have seen any of these movies you can feel free to share your thoughts on it without giving away too much to spoil it for the others who have not seen them yet.

Who/ What I’m listening to:

I’ll be honest with you, I have a mild headache so I’m here sipping some tea and trying to keep things as quiet as can be.  The only noise I am hearing is that from my fingers on the keyboard.

What I’m wearing/ Let’s Go Shopping:

Today I visited Macy’s website and here are a few things that caught my eye. 🙂

a.                b.

c.                   d.

a. Nine West Striped Pleated Halter Dress

b. Jessica Howard Medallion Lace Sheath Dress

c. Le Suit Shawl-Collar Tweed Skirt Suit

d. Tahari ASL Lace-Trim Skirt Suit

What I’m doing this weekend:

I’m not sure yet what or where I’ll end up but I’m sure my family has a lot planned for me. I’ll just prepare my mind and body to go with the flow.

What I’m looking forward to the next month:

I’m looking forward to a much slower and definitely less hectic month.  A month filled with fun, laughter, good food and wonderful memories.  🙂

What else is new?

Unfortunately, not much right now but who knows what amazing revelations the future has in store for me.  🙂

That’s a wrap for now until next week.  Make the most of each day even when it may not be going the way you like.  A simple change in your attitude or perspective can make a big difference.

Thanks for stopping by.
