Success Starts with YOU

 “Start With You” – every day we wake up let those three words be a reminder to us, that we are the main obstacles standing in our own way.  Of course, there are things outside of us that can hinder our progress but there are often bigger things going on inside of us that keeps pushing us ten steps backwards and they will continue until we address them.

The good news is, we’ve documented our proposed goals and aspirations and safely secured them for quick review from time to time.

However, making the list believe it or not was the easy part.  The changes we want and need in our lives ultimately start with usI’ve learnt over the years that many times when we fall short sometimes it is often due to some type of action or inaction on our part.

The words we’ve written will remain only words until we take action to change and improve the aspects of our lives that have been holding us back.   We have to give meaning and significance to what we say we want and be willing to do the work to see it achieved.

I’ve been standing in my own way for many years and it was only when I addressed certain aspects of my thinking, attitude and the words I spoke over my life did I experience the breakthrough I was praying for.

The saying, “what you put in is what you get out” is very true. We have to align our attitudes, words, thoughts and actions with the pictures we have envisioned for ourselves.

So check yourself each day and ask yourself, “Am I thinking, saying and doing what is needed for me to get the results I claim to want?”  If your answer, is “No or Not really” don’t get discouraged take immediate steps to align those areas that may be holding you back.

For 2018 to be everything we need and more, we need to accept responsibility for ourselves and more importantly be accountable.  Our successes and failures ultimately – start with us!

In closing, I want to declare that 2018 is going to be a year of prosperity, growth, healing and transformation in our lives.  It’s time for us to step up and actively pursue those goals and dreams that we have allowed to elude us for so long.

My question to you is, how bad do you want it?

Health and Wellness Fridays – Create a Happier and Healthier US

Welcome back to Health and Wellness Fridays!  Today I’m keeping it really simple.  With the upcoming closure of one chapter of our lives to hopefully start another I thought it fitting to write something a little different.

This Health and Wellness Fridays segment was created out of a desire to be a healthier and happier me while sharing the knowledge and information gathered with others in the process.  “Knowledge is power”.  However, what we choose to do with that knowledge is where the real power comes from.

This segment has brought me so much joy and knowledge.  I know from the feedback that I get that it is also appreciated by so many of you and I am truly grateful that you take time to read it.

As we move closer to 2018, I have big plans for my life as do so many of you.   The thing is guys, if we don’t start taking better care of ourselves that is, mental health, physical health and emotional health – how good would any of our plans, hopes and dreams be to us or our families?

Make a proactive decision today starting in 2017 to DO RIGHT by YOURSELF!  Start with small changes or improvements but START.

I don’t have all the answers.  I don’t live a life free from challenges and obstacles.  I’m like many of you, wanting and desiring better but sometimes we let our comfort get in the way – making taking ACTION seem like a lot of work.  Aren’t we worth that investment of effort, time and money?  I believe we ARE worth it and it is time we do more about it.

We don’t need to be anybody’s vision of perfect. We just need to develop and foster within ourselves a passion and love for self that drives us to want and actively pursue a better, stronger and healthier version of ourselves.

From today onward, NO LONGER will we allow self-doubt, fear, negative people, negative thinking, lack of finances and excuses to hold us back from improving various aspects of our health and ultimately our lives.  It’s time to get creative and resourceful to think and work ourselves into a better way of living. 🙂

Make that decision with me today to seriously go after that better and healthier life that we deserve and I have no doubt that happiness will follow.

I wish us all good health, happiness, prosperity and clarity of mind and spirit.

Laugh, love, explore, feel the warmth of the earth at your core

Understand, appreciate, be grateful and don’t deviate

Sure life is not perfect, that does not mean we’re not worth it

It’s the imperfection of life that drives us to want MORE for ourselves and others

It’s the imperfection that keeps us exploring, inventing, dreaming and pursuing bigger

and brighter things.

 

Some questions we may be fortunate to answer

Others we may need to leave for another

Don’t sweat the small the stuff

Life is just too short to be spent in constant worry

Be happy, get happy.

Make a conscious effort to make each day a great one.  We may not have control over every aspect of our lives but we DO have control over MOST of it.  So make the MOST out of what you have! 🙂

Value is the worth we give to something or someone.

With that said, we should NOT rely on others to validate our worth.    We must TRY not to allow other people’s thoughts and opinions to negatively impact how we see ourselves.

Value is deeper than what our eyes can see.  It goes deeper than the surface especially when we are referring to people and relationships.

Value gets its power from our beliefs.  Therefore, if we really want to grow our value then we need to grow our OWN belief in ourselves.

Value ideally starts with US.

Health and Wellness Fridays – Inspiration and Drive

Health and Wellness Greetings to each of you!

Today I felt inspired to write about some of the things that typically inspire and drive some of us to take a different approach to our health and overall well-being.

  1. A visit to the doctor.  You go to the doctor for one thing and you end up with more feedback than you were expecting.  Sometimes he or she would have to recommend that we change or cut out some of our everyday habits.  We would probably even have to make changes to our diet and even increase or start taking exercising more seriously based on the findings.
  2. Looking in the mirror.  This one does not always inspire everyone.  For some a glimpse into the mirror is all they need to run and join a gym.  For others it just a reminder of the areas we should be working on.  I for one know the areas I need to pay closer attention to but I don’t let the mirror get me down.  Focus on the good, enhance your assets 🙂 and try to improve what you can.  Don’t spend anytime beating up yourself about where you’re at.  Focus on where you would like to be and make an effort to get there. 🙂
  3. Constant feedback from those around you.  Some people mean well but they often neglect the fact that their good intentions can have a negative impact on the same people they are trying to help.  We allinternalize criticism differently.  Some use it as a driving force to excel in life while others absorb it and let it eat away at their very core.  When the latter happens, this not only hinders growth it creates depression and can even make things worse.
  4. You reach your ‘enough is enough’ moment. This is the point in your life when you’re tired of the excuses and you just take control of your life. You pay attention to what you eat, you make an effort to get active and just choose to no longer be a bystander in your own life.
  5. Fear of death.  Many of us want to live for as long as we can so we try to educate ourselves on the Dos and Don’ts and try to implement healthier lifestyle choices all in effort to preserve and hopefully extend our lives. The reality is, we all will die eventually and we have no say in how we go ultimately but we can reduce our risks for the things within our control.
  6. Family and loved ones.   Sometimes just the thought of  dying and leaving our loved ones is enough to motivate us to take better care of ourselves and them. Eating habits are learnt and taught whether we believe that or not.  Our families eat what we provide so we ultimately set the tone for their lives.  We owe it to them and ourselves to make better choices.

In the end, for each of us there may be multiple reasons why we do what we do and a few why we don’t.    These health and wellness posts are for people like me who sometimes need the reminder or gentle push to do more for ourselves.  No matter what ultimately drives and inspires us to live better – the number one reason should be because we are WORTH IT! 

Do I have all of the answers to health and wellness? NO but I do understand how challenging it can be when you have gained the weight and you’re trying to get if off and keep it off.  The battle between what taste best and what is BEST for us is real.  For some this comes easy and others like myself, we just have to take it one day and even one meal at a time.

5 Reasons Why YOU Matter

Many times we go through life experiencing different challenges that can sometimes leave us feeling broken sometimes to the point where we may feel like we don’t matter.  Tonight, I want to share with you 5 reasons why YOU DO matterno matter how the situation you’re going through makes you feel.  Always know that you are…

  1. You matter because you EXIST!  I believe that each of us has a purpose in this life that we’ve been created for or we would not be here.
  2. You matter because the CONTRIBUTION you have to make in this world is incomplete.  Many of us go through life feeling lost and uncertain about what we are really meant to do with our lives or who we’re meant to be in this world.
  3. You matter because there is SOMEONE out there that NEEDS YOU. 
  4. You matter because YOU bring something UNIQUE and SPECIAL to this world that NO one else can do like you.   Find and ignite the fire within and even you would be amazed of just how wonderful you truly are.
  5. You matter because if you didn’t those negative people in your life would not be spending so much time and energy trying to break you down. 

I understand that sometimes the challenges and issues of life can suck us dry at times emotionally, physically and mentally.  However, I don’t believe we should let those situations take from us the very things that give us strength to persevere and that is : self-love and self-worth. Never underestimate the importance and significance of those two words over the happiness in your life.

Without the above we are all just empty vessels making noise.

We ALL have a contribution to make no matter how small so don’t count yourself out.

Block out the noise and nurture from within the real you.

You are a beautiful soul with so much to give to this world.  You’ve just never been told – YOU MATTER!  🙂

It’s so intense it won’t let you rest

The hurt, the pain, the guilt and shame

Enough to drive anyone in insane

Most of your life a melting pot

With different contributors along the way

You believed most of what they had to say

And now your happiness seems to just fade away

This type of existence is diminishing your significance

That self-defeating attitude is drying up your gratitude

Blindly you from the truths you seek

That deep down you are FAR from weak
