Tears help cleanse our souls

They wash away the hurt and pain

That can sometimes drive some of us insane

Relieving the internal pressure on our brains

Making it easier for us to breathe again

 

Tears are one way of expressing our joy and sadness

The body’s way of easing the madness

So there’s no need to hold them back

They can be rather hard to control

As a matter of fact

 

So many times we’re often forced to fold

As the tears begin to roll down our cheeks

It’s clear by then that we’ve reached our peaks

So cry dear friend and let it out

Your heart is hurting, that’s nothing to be ashamed about

 

From our tears we can sometimes find strength

Surfacing from deep inside among the things we try to hide

For behind our tears there are often different fears

But never believe that no one cares.

 

So I’ll cry for me

You cry for you

We both cry when we hurt

This much is true.

 

Tears have a purpose and more often than not when we keep holding them back constantly we make it harder for ourselves emotionally.  When we allow ourselves to feel sometimes that’s the only way we can truly heal.

Music Reflection – No More Tears

Hello and Welcome back to “Music Reflection Mondays” unfortunately, I was too exhausted to post this yesterday hence I adjusted the title to post it today.  I hope that all is well with each of you.

Today, I would like to highlight some songs that helped me get through some tough moments in my life that I didn’t think I would get over but I have. 🙂 For those of you wondering if this post was triggered by a recent incident have no worries it wasn’t. I’m happy to report that all is well. 🙂

I was in the car listening to the radio when a couple of songs were played that took me back and they made me feel all sorts of emotions sad, happy and grateful all at the same time.   It was in these moments of reflection that made me realize just how much music has been a part of my life.

Some of the music gave me strength when I was weak, courage when I was afraid and comfort when I sad.   I can truly say that listening to the words of some of those songs helped speed up my healing process.

The music for me was never used to forget what happened but rather help me move past it.  If you listen to the right kind of music maybe, just maybe it can do the same for you too.

My list can go on and on but I won’t. 🙂 Music feeds the soul and has the potential to  soothe the heart and mind as well.  Don’t let the pressures of life keep you down.  We’re all going through something so don’t give up, keep moving.

One day at a time is how we learn and grow.  This is true for all of us.  From birth straight through to our adult lives and this is not limited only to our ability to move but our intellect and spirituality as well.

The thing is, no one person has ALL of the answers and those persons who have words of wisdom to share with others would have developed them from over years of learning from their own life lessons.

Each day will bring with it opportunities for growth, understanding and challenges which ultimately add up to lessons which help shape and develop us as individuals. Don’t beat yourself up if you don’t get it right the first time or the even the second time.

When the situation seems bigger than YOURSELF and you can’t seem to find a way to overcome it. Pray for clarity of mind,  ask for God’s guidance and he WILL provide the answer.  You just have to listen not only with your ears but your eyes, heart and spirit.  Worrying and stressing about it will only cloud and block your ability to see and receive the very answers you are searching for.

So dear friends remember, take it one day at a time. Embrace each day as a potential lesson to be learnt. Be sure to apply a positive attitude as this would help to make your  journey much easier as you learn and grow along the way.

Healing Starts With US

We’ve all experienced emotional, psychological or physical hurt at some point in our lives.  They all hurt. However for me, the most painful of them ALL was not the physical hurt.  You see, the physical hurt eventually heals it’s the memory of it that is harder to forget.

The emotional and psychological hurts STAY with us for as long as we WISH to carry them around.  They dance around our minds and torment us every chance we LET  them.  They STIFLE our happiness and we allow them to negatively impact our relationships.  They create within us feelings of unworthiness, anger, resentment, sadness and depression.

These hurts don’t just go away on their own.  If they did, we would be a happier society.  I can definitely tell you that wishing them away, ignoring them or even medicating to repress them won’t help.  Although they may appear to be lying dormant inside of us  they are quietly eating away at us – constantly weakening our core and feeding us LIES about ourselves.

The sad thing is, we actually believe those lies making them our truths although FALSE we make them real and this is what eats at us. This is what creates the INTERNAL CONFLICT and disconnect within our very being.

How do we break free and allow ourselves to heal from those experiences?

  1. Ask God for the STRENGTH to see this process through.
  2. Pray for the COURAGE to face your fears, hurts and pains.
  3. Forgive OURSELVES.
  4. Dig deeper and FORGIVE the people who help get us in this mess in the first place.
  5. Have POSITIVE talks with ourselves about ourselves.
  6. STOP holding on to the memories of the moments that have negatively affected us.  Write ALL of them down on a piece of paper and then burn it.  Choosing both in your mind and heart to let the flames free you and release you from that prison those memories have kept you in for so long.
  7. OPEN our hearts and minds to positive experiences, people and thoughts.
  8. START believing and discovering some POSITIVE truths about yourself.  I AM  worthy.  I AM talented.  I AM creative.  I AM one of a kind.  I AM one of God’s gifts to the earth.
  9. SEARCH within yourself for your STRENGTHS and BOLDLY and PROUDLY  acknowledge them.  If you are lost for words, ask people close to you what some of your strengths are.
  10. LOOK into your mirror and REFUSE to continue accepting the LIES you’ve been told about yourself.   “You are not a failure.”  ” You are not a waste of time.”  “You are not a mistake.”
  11. STOP trying to run from yourself.  We do this by ignoring the issues and trying to drown ourselves with denial.  We’ve been running long enough.  It’s time to face the music and take CONTROL of our lives.
  12. UNDERSTANDING and PATIENCE. We need to understand that healing is a process and won’t happen overnight. So let’s be patient with ourselves as we work towards the breakthrough we’ve been searching for.

So dear friends and faithful readers, remember healing is not automatic but is in fact a process that we MUST initiate and FOLLOW THROUGH with if we are to achieve the FREEDOM so many of us long for.  The ultimate healing we can receive would come from within bringing – peace of mind, body and spirit.

Tragedy

In life there are going to be many things we don’t understand or like.

These events force us to ask questions like, what is the purpose of all this pain, suffering, and  loss? 

And of course, the big question of, why me?

Every setback, every obstacle, every loss and every encounter we’ve had was for a reason. Yes, it hurts and yes, some of it even gets us angry just thinking about it.

Believe it or not those events are meant to get us to a specific chapter in our lives not only for ourselves but often to someone else. Our lives are much bigger than ourselves.

Understanding and accepting that, is what gives us the clarity and ability to heal and move pass those trials into brighter and better days.

Tragedy can be tragic but out of it can come strength, healing, wisdom, purpose and growth.

You are NOT alone.  We ALL have our own internal wars going on inside.  Don’t be fooled by what you see on the outside.

We need to support and encourage each other to PUSH through the pain until we get to a point where we’re in control of our feelings and it is not the other way around.

We’re ALL in the process of finding our true ourselves but some of us don’t know it.  We have to learn to forgive and allow ourselves to emerge out of our PAST into our FUTURE.

A Storm is Brewing

A storm is brewing and I can feel it

I know its coming even though I can’t see it

Your intentions are clear and it’s just to cause despair

We both know deep down you don’t truly care

 

A storm is brewing

And as the darkness fills your head

I hope you know your actions you’ll someday dread

The games you play will catch up with you one day

There’s no excuse and you can’t call a truce

For with all of your internal turmoil

Your own plans you will foil

 

I refuse to return to the old days

No more manipulation and stringing’ me along 

So keep your distance

I have a new found persistence

Brighter days are ahead

So it’s time for us to put this issue to bed

 

A storm is brewing

As you attempt to disturb my peace and joy

These lives you will not destroy like some kind of toy

I’ll secure all that is near and dear to me

And trust in the Lord to deliver me

A sweet victory.

 

 

We all face various storms in our lives and I’m here to tell you that you CAN overcome them.  Don’t let despair and fear keep you from claiming what is truly yours. Stand up for yourself and believe that YOU ARE WORTHY of HAPPINESS and PEACE OF MIND.
