Let Us Just Be

Let’s strive to be WHO we are meant to be and make no apologies for it.

Let’s embrace the possibilities and disregard the negativity that may try to discourage us.

Let’s explore the unknown and give life to the notion that we might be the missing link to so many problems and issues in the world but we have to be willing and bold.

Let’s be grateful for our blessings for without them we could not have made it this far.

Let’s seize opportunities for they are stepping stones to new chapters in our lives.

Let us help when and wherever we can because it is the right thing to do even though we may not always get a “Thank You”.

Let us empower ourselves to be the heroes the world so desperately needs us to be – as you do you and I do me.

Let us support and encourage each other because we ALL can use a cheerleader from time to time. 🙂  Pushing us along the way to persevere another day.

Let us remember to live, love, laugh and forgive along the way. These simple acts may help extend our lives each day.

Let us never forget to pray as this for me is the only way, to start and end each day.

Lastly, let us just be and as you work on YOU and I work on ME together we’ll be growing independently. Learning as we go along the way to appreciate and value every single day.

Thank you for making this blog one of your stops in this journey called life.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Health and Wellness Fridays – Simplicity

Welcome back to Health and Wellness Fridays!  Today, as the topic suggests I’ll be talking about the simplicity of health and wellness.

Yes, being healthy and taking better care of our bodies does not have to be complicated and technical although at times it can feel that way because there is just so much information, products, options and opinions out there.

Everywhere you look there’s someone or something saying, ” Do this! Don’t do that! Eat this! Don’t eat that! It can leave anyone struggling to get and live healthy feel overwhelmed and just frustrated trying to do everything.

The good news is we don’t have to do everything! However, there are some things we should do. Here are my 13 tips for working towards being healthier without the pressure. 🙂

  1. Love yourself enough to do and eat what’s best for you.
  2. Strive for balance in your meals not too much of any one food group.
  3. Take it slow and be gradual in the adjustments you make. Don’t be too drastic in the measures you try to implement.
  4. Make realistic goals.
  5. Create short-term and long -term goals for yourself. Example: I want to reduce my sugar consumption or I want to  eat more fruits and vegetables per day.
  6. Create and start an action plan to help you meet your goals.
  7. Encourage a friend or family member to team up with you as you both try to live differently and support each other.  It’s easier to do when you don’t feel like you’re alone but it’s not necessary.
  8. Don’t give up!
  9. Get active. Activity of any type be it dancing, running, walking, swimming, sports whatever you choose do something and stick with it.  Movement is good for our hearts and our bodies and is a step in the right direction.  🙂
  10. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t get anyone to join you on this journey.  Remember, who stands to benefit from a healthier and happier you.
  11. Believe in yourself.  Be your own coach, your own motivator. Being negative and having the wrong attitude would only work against you.
  12. Don’t beat yourself up if you fall short of your goal.  Assess why and take corrective action to reduce this in the future and move forward.
  13. It’s alright to treat yourself every once in a while once you’ve acquired the self-control to not overindulge.

Sounds simple enough right.  Being healthy is a lifestyle so what we do and eat affects our health.  Therefore, if we pay closer attention to what and how much we put in we’re doing better already. 🙂 We have more control than we think but we have to use it and this is often where the challenge comes.  Accept responsibility and get proactive in your self-care.  🙂

Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by.

To Inspire

To inspire is to give hope

For a better and brighter tomorrow

To inspire is to care

To inspire is to share

To inspire is to connect with someone on a deeper level

To revive and refresh

That neglected piece of themselves

Provoking thought, action and growth

To inspire is selfless

To inspire means you’ve not only gained wisdom

But understanding

And more importantly, you’re not afraid to use it

To inspire is to foster and encourage happiness

Within ourselves and our lives

Therefore to inspire is ME and YOU

Although inspiration can be found outside of us

It lies within us too!

Thanks for stopping by.  🙂

Life Is Not An Easy Road

It is easy to feel overwhelmed by our circumstances

After all we are the ones going through them

Although the challenges we face are different

We all want the same thing and that is, to overcome them

Although the challenges require different approaches

We all need strength of mind, body and spirit

To see us through them

……………………………………………………………………………….

The frustration and even the desperation that we sometimes feel

When the weight of the challenge seems more than we could bare

Refuse to be gobbled up by the despair

We must fight for our betterment

We must fight for our happiness

We must fight for our freedom

Let us choose to defy the odds and persevere

In spite of the difficulties

We must choose to push through

…………………………………………………………………………………

Life is not an easy road but this is the path we’re on

Don’t lose hope

Ask God for the strength to cope

Remember,  WE CAN DO THIS!

Our turn off is just up ahead.

Thanks for stopping by.

Followers vs Readers

Followers are great because they are a reflection of how relatable and or enjoyable your blog is.  They make you feel proud.

Readers however, are the people behind the scenes who take time to read what you write.  They push us to create, they inspire us to push ourselves to be better writers and bloggers.  They make you feel heard and understood through their comments and likes.

When we are lucky to have both then it fosters a stronger blogging community whereby we can actively support and encourage each other.

We need to give back just as much as we expect of our fellow bloggers.

So what’s it going to be, FOLLOWER, READER OR BOTH?

I’m all in! Are you?

Clown Nightmare

Daily Prompt: Relieved

“It was just dream,” said David as he woke up covered in his sweat.  His heart racing as he was running for his life as he believed he was near death.

He has always been tormented as a child by his fear of clowns.   Now a grown man, avoiding clowns was his action plan.   His fears did not subside because he would often hide them inside.

“Are you okay babe?” asked his girlfriend Samantha. This was the third time this week that he had awoken her from her sleep.

Tonight was a special night, it was Halloween.  His brother Dave knew how much he hated clowns and planned to surprise him tonight of all nights with his clown costume.  Samantha advised Dave against it though and hoped that would be the end of that.

It was 5 minutes before midnight and there was a loud, frantic knocking at the door.  David looked at Samantha with a concerned look on his face as he grabbed his baseball bat and slowly approached the front door.

“Who is it?” shouted David.

“It’s me Dave open up, hurry!” shouted Dave in a shaky voice.

When David opened the door he was frozen in fear. He saw his twin brother held at gunpoint by someone in a clown suit.  All his childhood fears came rushing back faster than his heart could pump the blood through his veins.

Samantha stood there also frozen and in shock and could not believe this was really happening.  Get on the floor shouted the strange man to Dave as he pushed him into the apartment.  David decided enough was enough and he would not live in fear any longer.  He hit the gun out of the stranger’s hand and began beating him all over his body with the bat.

It’s Dillon! It’s Dillon, stop!  David eventually stopped as the clown mask fell off and his other twin brother’s blood covered face emerged.

He dropped to his knees and hugged his unconscious twin relieved that he was not the monster he envisioned all these years.

Samantha called an ambulance and they all went to the hospital. Dillon recovered with minor injuries.  Dave and Dillon promised never to use David’s fear against him again.

After that night, David was no longer afraid of clowns.

What motherhood means to me

Motherhood can start from as early as the womb.  From the moment you conceive and start taking the necessary steps to care for your unborn child the journey begins and continues long after they are born.

Motherhood is more than just giving birth to a child.  It is a responsibility that you often accept without knowing the full details of what is required and you do it anyway.  It is a promise that you will do all you can to ensure the well-being of your baby.

However, there are a lot of women out there who did not give birth to the children they are caring for.  Some of these women treat the children in their care with so much love and affection that they deserve recognition and appreciation for all that they do.  Whether the kids are through marriage, adoption or through mentoring – I want to tell you all a heart-felt thank you!

The world is a better place with people like you in it.  My sister has no kids at this time but the way she treats my kids you would never know that.  She is truly a beautiful person and I believe one day she would make a great mom. I want to thank her for all she does. I consider her a second mother to my kids.  I know she has their best interest at heart and that  means so much to me. We’re truly blessed to have her apart of our lives.

Those of you who aren’t mothers yet I won’t lie to you motherhood has its difficult moments but there are also the rewarding and happy moments too.  No one has all the answers and many of us learn as we go as well as through the guidance of the more experienced mothers around us.

Motherhood should be cherished and never taken for granted.   Being a mother has given me some lessons in patience, understanding, selflessness, sacrifice, unconditional love, forgiveness, responsibility and the importance of family.  It has also shown me how strong I am emotionally, spiritually and physically.

To all the mothers out there I want to urge you to keep supporting, protecting and working with your children. Don’t give up on them, love them and pray for them.

May God give us the strength, patience and wisdom to execute our responsibilities in a way that is pleasing to him.  May our children take comfort in knowing that we are always here for them.

Stay strong and blessed.  Thanks for stopping by. 🙂
