Heart to Heart

This post was inspired by a piece I read called “I’m scared” written by Elsie over at Elsie LMC blog.  She rekindle in me some feelings I get whenever I think of a loved one leaving me before I could share with them all I have to say.

Family is sometimes all we have and those of us who are still fortunate to have people we love in our lives should never take them for granted.  This is to my family.

So many times I stop and think

We could be no more with just one blink

No more laughter, no more talks

No more browsing on our little walks

So as I prepare this heart to heart

Let’s remove all bitterness from our path 

Agreeing to put petty differences aside

Especially those entangled with our pride

Our love for each other we should never hide

So many times I stop and think

How much time was wasted between you and me?

Silence left to pass the time

Because of foolish pettiness

We’ve now reduced our time

So many times I stop and think

If you were to leave me now

My heart would surely sink

For without you in this world

I would feel so empty and cold

As the tears and grief would fill my soul

So I’ve made my decision and with careful precision

I will take the first step because I don’t want to leave this world with regret

Besides I never want you to forget,

I love now and forever

To my mother, father, sister, brother, sons and niece

Knowing each of you in this life

Has truly brought me so much peace

I know we’ve had our moments

But life is short so no more postponements

Live your life and cherish it

Remembering to show your love

While learning to receive it

So let’s put any differences aside

Removing all bitterness and pride

Loving and praying for each other everyday

Because when that day comes there’s only so much we can say

I love you all

What’s Up Wednesdays #13

Yes, it’s Wednesday. I’m sure some of you are thinking it took its time getting here while the rest of us are probably saying, “Wednesday already!” 🙂

What have you guys been up to?  All work, I hope not! Stressing out that is awful. Hopefully you’ve made time for yourself and loved ones trying to create a balance between work and your personal life.  Easier said than done for many but sometimes guys we just have to make that time because we don’t get it back.

I have been missing for the last four days and don’t tell me you didn’t notice. 🙂 I was on Part Two of my mini vacation with the family.  I’ll share a little more about that as we get into our What’s Up Wednesdays segment.

What I’m eating this week:

Today for lunch plan on getting a Presto Chicken Penne Pasta which consists of Herb Chicken Breast, Penne Pasta, Red & Yellow Peppers, Broccoli, Parmesan Cheese, Mushroom, Sun Dried Tomatoes, Basil and Herb Lime Vinaigrette. I’ll add a picture when I pick it up. 🙂

I love these and the food is so fresh and delicious!  It’s especially great when I’m pressed for time and I want something healthy and fulling to eat.

What I’m reminiscing about: 

       

    

Our stay at the Radisson Hotel in Trinidad.  It was relaxing.  The room was cozy and the staff were all very friendly, pleasant and helpful.  I’ll give them 5 out of 5 for the level of customer service I received. We were always greeted with a smile.

What I’m loving:

 

Being back home.  Now don’t get me wrong, I loved my getaway and definitely need to do it more often but I also missed home a little.  You know the saying, “There’s no place like home.”

 

What I’ve been up to:

    

Feeding and entertaining the kids for the last four days.  We took the kids out a few times while at the Radisson but they preferred staying in and ordering room service.  No surprise there! 🙂  I did manage to take them for lunch at Trader Jack’s restaurant the pictures above are from there.

They definitely enjoyed their time away from home. I even got to sleep during the middle of the day  and in my household unless I’m sick that’s not happening. I got to catch up on much-needed rest.

 

What I’m dreading:

This week we started our third home improvement project – Tiling.  We have various sections of the house we want to have re-done because the work done some years ago was less than what we expected.

I thought moving the stuff out of the rooms was bad but now I’m dreading having to move the items back when they’re done. 🙁   The good to be gained out of this inconvenience is newly tiled floors and I get to use this as an opportunity to re-organize my space. 🙂

What I’m working on:

Actually, I was just going through my home improvement projects list to see how many of our goals we’ve accomplished.  We’ve achieved a lot in the short space of time we had.

We’re hoping to have this tiling exercise completed within the next 2-3 weeks.  Our painting of the house is on pause while these other projects get done.  No worries though, I know we’ll get it all done in time.

 

What I’m excited about:

Me time! 🙂 After entertaining the kids for the past month and a half I would be getting some me time as a treat from my family. A few days just for me to enjoy. 🙂 Just in time for my birthday too! I look forward to it and yes this one involves me getting on a plane. Yay!!!!

What I’m watching:

I found myself watching all sorts of Lifetime Movie Network movies during my stay at the hotel. If you know Lifetime you know how addictive it can be. 🙂  I look forward to watching out my Orphan Black Season 2 and starting Season 3 soon.

What I’m wearing/ Let’s Go Shopping:

Today, we’re going shopping for gym attire and I’ve been eyeing some outfits I’ve seen on television from Fabletics.com.  They have some amazing designs that promise comfort and make you look great. Here are some of my favourites although I wish I could get them all.  They make me want to go the gym.

The best part of it is that they cater to different sizes ranging from XS to 3XL. They have a variety of styles, colours and patterns to suit your style and body type. They even pair up outfits for you be it for yoga, the gym, tennis, running whatever you’re into. I’ll be adding some of their outfits to my wish list. 🙂

What I’m doing this weekend:

My relaxation and fun must come to a pause for the time being because  I have some sorting and painting to do around the house so that will keep me busy this weekend.

What I’m looking forward to the next month:

By God’s grace, my birthday which is coming up in the next few days.  I’m looking forward to it. 🙂

What else is new?

Other than the tiles in my bedroom not much for the moment.  I’ll take some pictures when they’re done to share with you. 😉

Health and Wellness Fridays: Lifestyle

Welcome back dear friends to Health and Wellness Fridays! 🙂 Thank God we persevered and made it.  After a long, hectic week Fridays just seem to make everything easier.

This week my post is a little different to what I would normally do.  Why you ask?  Well, health and wellness is not just about what we eat but also how we care for and treat our bodies as well.

It is important that we not only nourish our bodies with food but also do things that help care for our bodies.  I’m a firm believer in “prevention is better than cure.”

Here are some things we can do to help care for our bodies outside of eating properly.

Getting a proper night’s rest – did you know that the average adult between the ages of 18 -60 years needs about 7 or more hours of sleep per night?

Get active – it is important to get your body moving so running, dancing, swimming, walking, cardio exercise, cycling, tennis whatever form you choose it is a step in the right direction.

Knowing when to stop and rest – this is sometimes easier said than done at times but the body gives us signs when it is tired and sometimes we ignore them.  It is important that we get proper rest to ensure that we are able to function at our best both mentally and physically.

Get regular check-ups.  We don’t have to wait to become ill to visit our healthcare provider.  Schedule a check-up to make sure that you are truly performing at your best.

Maintain proper oral hygiene. Visit your dentist. Taking care of our teeth would be cheaper that ordering new ones. 🙂

Have your eyes tested to ensure that they are healthy and functioning properly.

Read and research the ingredients of the products you use.   Some of those ingredients found in everyday products research has shown can do more damage than good.  Click here to learn more.

Find healthy forms of relaxation for both the mind and body.  Some people use yoga, meditation, music, others even have a spa day while some take up sports.  Whatever helps you relax and find peace of mind, body and spirit do it.  We all face stressful situations in life some have more than others but not having a healthy way to cope can result in you becoming ill or worse resulting in a nervous breakdown if not addressed and handled properly.

Reduce and end negativity – we sometimes underestimate how toxic negative people and negative thinking can be on our overall well-being.  Take control of your life. Be the pencil and eraser, add what you want and remove what you don’t.

Last but by no means least believe that YOU are worth the investment.

These are just a few of my suggestions.  I know life can be hectic and it is difficult to keep track of everything all the time.  I fall short sometimes but I don’t let it get me down I just get back on the path and keep moving forward and that’s what you should do as well.  Beating ourselves up about what we didn’t do does not make it better.  Instead focus on what you are going to do to make it right.

Our bodies can only give back what we put into it.   If we give it 20% it would give back 20%, if we give it 60% then we get back 60% and so on. Create a balance between what you put into your body and how you care for it externally as well.    The time, effort and resources we invest now may help us in the future by reducing our risks for various types of diseases and illnesses.

Health and Wellness is therefore a lifestyle.  What we choose to do and not do in regards to our health and overall well-being has consequences in both the short-term and the long-term which consequences are you prepared to live with?

Never Underestimate Time

I used to think that once I had LIFE that I would be able to do anything and for the most part this is true.

For without life, we are dead and the possibility to do anything is no more.

Then it hit me, the most precious gift we have is TIME.

For life without ‘time’ means we would be limited by what we can do.

Although we cannot control time, we can choose to make the most of it and that is when we are truly living.

Let us not take our lives for granted because when we do we assume we have time and no one knows how much they really have.

Choose to live, love and laugh as much as you can.

Make today a great one. 🙂

We race through life, like a speeding truck

No time for this, no time for that

Time waits for no one and that’s a fact

Please don’t think that I didn’t care

Because I had little time to spare

I know it seems so unfair

Now only grief and memories you will share

Oh how I’ll miss my family so

Where did all the time go? 

Wish I had more time to let them know

I did not always want to go

But I loved them too much to say no
