Today we’re going to be looking at the importance of being able to move forward.

More often than not, we can sometimes find ourselves getting distracted and discouraged by what we’re not doing right.  It’s normal to be disappointed when we fail or fall short.  However, holding on to the disappointment long after is unhealthy. Other times, we may allow the opinions and views of others to eat away at us resulting in the accumulation of anger, self-doubt, guilt, sadness and sometimes depression.

Constantly holding on to things emotionally can make us sick over time as it could have us feeling stressed out and overwhelmed.  Some symptoms we might suffer from include: constant headaches, loss of appetite, feeling constantly fatigued, some people may over eat to compensate, while others may even experience hair loss.

Not choosing to move forward has a cost.  Peace of mind, happiness and your health.

The thing is, if we’re honest with ourselves, I think we could all agree that there are areas in our lives that we can improve on no matter how physically healthy we may appear to be.  The truth is, we should be more focused on finishing the ‘work’ needed on and in ourselves rather than pointing fingers at each other.  I think if we can do this, then we all would be living healthier, happier lives.

How do we  move forward?

  1. LET GO of negativity.
  2. STOP comparing ourselves to other people.
  3. STOP beating ourselves up about who we are at this stage in our lives.
  4. TAKE responsibility for where we are right now. We got ourselves here but the good news is we CAN get ourselves better.
  5. MAKE the decision for ourselves to do better and STICK with it.
  6. FORGIVE ourselves for our weaknesses while working towards a better, brighter tomorrow.
  7. NEVER accept that our shortcomings or failures define us.  They are merely a manifestation of who we’ve been.  Tomorrow is a new day and we have a say in how we choose to participate in it.
  8. WORK on developing, improving and healing ourselves from the inside out.  Too often we get caught up thinking if I just lose the weight I’ll feel better.  If I just fix this or that about myself maybe I’ll feel better.  Look at the underlying causes or factors that have not been resolved emotionally and seek to address those areas. A flat stomach would make you look great on the beach but your heart would still be breaking inside.
  9. CHANGE our focus.  If we can adjust our thinking from ‘ I’m dieting to lose weight’ toI’m eating my way to a healthier life’ then we would not only maintain the changes we implement but enjoy them.’ It would not happen overnight but with the right attitude anything is possible.

Moving forward can be challenging but it is necessary for peace of mind, growth, your health and overall well-being.  I don’t know what your situations are but trust me moving forward is the only answer to finding happiness.

There are too many people in this world going through life unhappy and stuck in their emotions unable to truly enjoy their lives because they have not been able to move forward.  Take control of your life by taking control of your emotions not masking them but treating with them in a healthy manner.

My Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I come before You tonight to say thank you for another wonderful day.  Thank you that I am able to enjoy the simple pleasures of life that so many of us often take for granted.  Thank you for always providing for me and protecting me.  Thank you for loving me in moments when I don’t love myself.  Thank you for forgiving me for my shortcomings.

As I go forward in my walk with You daily I pray that You help me to overcome the weak areas in my life that I struggle with.  I ask that You heal the parts of my heart that I try to ignore.  I ask that as I make a conscious effort to live better and be better that You would bring about positive change in my life, mind, body and spirit.  I receive your blessing in my life. In Jesus name. Amen.

Don’t base your happiness on being the ‘ideal’ weight. Your happiness is determined by your attitude towards life and the types of relationships you strive to have with others.

Thank you for making this blog one of your stops in this journey called life.

Have a wonderful weekend.  See you next week. 🙂

Health and Wellness Fridays – Inspiration and Drive

Health and Wellness Greetings to each of you!

Today I felt inspired to write about some of the things that typically inspire and drive some of us to take a different approach to our health and overall well-being.

  1. A visit to the doctor.  You go to the doctor for one thing and you end up with more feedback than you were expecting.  Sometimes he or she would have to recommend that we change or cut out some of our everyday habits.  We would probably even have to make changes to our diet and even increase or start taking exercising more seriously based on the findings.
  2. Looking in the mirror.  This one does not always inspire everyone.  For some a glimpse into the mirror is all they need to run and join a gym.  For others it just a reminder of the areas we should be working on.  I for one know the areas I need to pay closer attention to but I don’t let the mirror get me down.  Focus on the good, enhance your assets 🙂 and try to improve what you can.  Don’t spend anytime beating up yourself about where you’re at.  Focus on where you would like to be and make an effort to get there. 🙂
  3. Constant feedback from those around you.  Some people mean well but they often neglect the fact that their good intentions can have a negative impact on the same people they are trying to help.  We allinternalize criticism differently.  Some use it as a driving force to excel in life while others absorb it and let it eat away at their very core.  When the latter happens, this not only hinders growth it creates depression and can even make things worse.
  4. You reach your ‘enough is enough’ moment. This is the point in your life when you’re tired of the excuses and you just take control of your life. You pay attention to what you eat, you make an effort to get active and just choose to no longer be a bystander in your own life.
  5. Fear of death.  Many of us want to live for as long as we can so we try to educate ourselves on the Dos and Don’ts and try to implement healthier lifestyle choices all in effort to preserve and hopefully extend our lives. The reality is, we all will die eventually and we have no say in how we go ultimately but we can reduce our risks for the things within our control.
  6. Family and loved ones.   Sometimes just the thought of  dying and leaving our loved ones is enough to motivate us to take better care of ourselves and them. Eating habits are learnt and taught whether we believe that or not.  Our families eat what we provide so we ultimately set the tone for their lives.  We owe it to them and ourselves to make better choices.

In the end, for each of us there may be multiple reasons why we do what we do and a few why we don’t.    These health and wellness posts are for people like me who sometimes need the reminder or gentle push to do more for ourselves.  No matter what ultimately drives and inspires us to live better – the number one reason should be because we are WORTH IT!

Do I have all of the answers to health and wellness? NO but I do understand how challenging it can be when you have gained the weight and you’re trying to get if off and keep it off.  The battle between what taste best and what is BEST for us is real.  For some this comes easy and others like myself, we just have to take it one day and even one meal at a time.

Happy Friday to you all. Make today a great one and have a wonderful weekend!

Thanks for stopping by.
